Re: Best Available Head Coach
I think the coaches at BM make such a strong unit is that they buy into Salem's system which is backed knowledgable assistants. Having experience (16 years now?) helps as well with ex-player-coaches who still understand and are ready to add to the program. The staff is very dedicated (i have never witnessed other staffs but im sure BM is up there with the best).
Although sometimes when something breaks off from the whole, they dont work out as well. Immediately comming to mind is Charlie Weis as an example.
**By no way am I comparing any of BMs coaches to Weis**
After this dissoppointing season, due to every reason under the sun, it comes down on the coach. He consistantly failed to deliver the offensive prowess he was known for in New England (run by Belichak, not the other 3 guys that split off)
However, as a loyal ND fan, I expect he will have his teams rollin' with the new recruits in the next several years (as long as ND Alum dont get to antsy).
I was going to say that Westmont needed turned around, not true, they just need to punch through that invisible roof that hovers over Price field. They've made the playoffs the past 2 outta 3, not that it is a huge accomplishment, but theres not a whole lot "wrong" with westmont, they just need to get goin in the right direction.
From what I hear "its because of the parents". Thats a lousy excuse for under performance from the players and coach-not that he made that as an excuse, though his article in the paper was referring to it-. If I'm a player, im not listening to the brainwashing at home such as,"you deserve this, you deserve that". Get out there and EARN it. Best player plays (on winning teams that is). How many Fortune 500 corporations have guys in charge that were'nt qualified?-Not many I'd bet. As long as the next coach establishes boundaries between the lockerroom and the bleacheres, I can see a number of these candidates being successful, some have proven it,some would still need to. I do believe westmont has had enough talent come through there the past years, but one knock on them hasnt been the specailists, It comes down to the line. Most teams know they can dominate the line, and with that, the game.
Good luck to any of these coaches; however, i would hate to see BM lose any more valuable coaches on their staff.

I know for a fact that Skowron dismissed a Jr. High volunteer coach for going into the stands and bad mouthing the coaches/plays/team etc. only to have McClarin bring him back when he took over.
A word of advise to McCort coaches...........if any of you do apply WATCH YOUR BACK!!!!!

Re: Best Available Head Coach
I think its honestly pathetic at what Westmont has become on the gridiron. Tell me, do other sports (which for the most part are very successful) have such a controversial outlook or not? Seems to me that all this comotion is a RESULT of poor performance, not the CAUSE of it. Its a shame that going to price field use to mean you were in for a fight with the team, not the fans...

did Lowrey for mccort have a brother named scott who played for westies last undefeated team? And I understand Capereli also had siblings that went to westy? Why did they switch that is what westy has to find out! They need a coach that will keep these type of players if they want to compete!
Re: Best Available Head Coach
They are brothers, and Scott was an unbelievably good lineman. Also Caperelli's sister went to Westmont way back when. However from what I know and can tell. The majority, if not all of their friends were going to McCort.

Boy kingdom, was that was a failed attempt to dig some dirt up in an effort to get a rise out of the BM faithful or what? Westmont should focus on the players they have and get the community to support the cause. There's plenty of pride under all that mud, someone has to bring it out...

Re: Best Available Head Coach
I think we need to discuss availablity. Most of the candidates have jobs within the districts they currently coach at. I believe Swaim teaches at Bedford does he not? Almost all of the younger coaches are going to need a teaching job to go along with coaching, so right away that put a interesting spin on who is and who is not available.
The other question raised is will Swaim stay in the high school game or search a move to college coaching? I don't see him staying in the high school game for too much longer, but we shall see.
