D3/D2/D1AA National Championship Games
Just wondering if anyone was going to watch these games or had any decent information or insight. All the games are going to be carried on ESPN this coming weekend.
D3- Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl
Mount Union Purple Raiders vs. UW-Whitewater
This is the third straight years these two teams have met, and Mount's 11th Stagg Bowl appearance. The Purple Raiders are looking for their 3rd straight National Championship.
D-2 National Chamionship
Northwest Missouri vs. face Valdosta State
NW Missouri beat the #1 team in the nation and defending national title winner Grand Valley State, While Valdosta state knocked off a very good Cal U team.
D-1AA National Chamionship
Appalachian State Mountaineers vs. Delaware Blue Hens
App. State played a close game early on with a good Richmond team, but ended up pouring it on late. App. State is looking for their 3rd straight National Championship.
My Picks:
Mount by 21
NW Missouri by 10
App. State by 24

i think that college sports should have the same system as the european soccer leagues in that if you are constantly doing well at one level, you move up to the next and if you do bad then you get relegated to a lower level and have to work your way back up to the top spots. That being said, how are the divisions decided? size of the school?
also, i realize this would never happen because it would mess up conferences and everything like that, but still...it'd be interesting.
my picks are right along with yours, crimson...
Union
NW Mizzu
App. State

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.

Re: D3/D2/D1AA National Championship Games
Not a bad idea but as you said it would never work.
I for one am quite bored of seeing the same teams in these championship games every year, but imagine if D1 A put into practice a playoff would the same thing happen. Would the same three or four teams be meeting annually?
All i know is that if Mount Union continues to play D3 they will go to the Finals every year, the same for UW-Whitewater. Division 2 has gotten a few fresh matchups from time to time but nothing out of the ordinary. The D2 national championship game is almost always a GLIAC teams playing a SAC team.
What I would personally love to see is some inter-division play. I would love to see Mount play Cal U or IUP. The same is i would really love to watch Grand Valley, Pittsburgh State, or even VAldosta State play a MAC school or Confrence USA. As far as D1AA playing D1a we have seen it and almost all were shocked to see APP State beat Michigan. Michigan losing that game should not have been a real big shock though. For the past three or four years SEC teams have scheduled games against APP State, Elon, Western Carolina ect. LSU for instance played fairly close with APP state three years ago if memory serves me. I think inter-division play would be a great thing for college football, the only draw back as Michigan saw is that if you lose a game you should win then you are basically out of the playoff picture.

9 Nat Championship banners do all the recruiting at Mount.
Mount loses to UW. Whitewater 31-21
NW Mizzou Lose 25-20 by a last minute touchdown by Valdosta
App State rolls.
Mount misses 3peat, App gets is and NWMizzou Gets there also by losing three straight times.
