mommyANDdaddy,

1. I DO make six digits per year! So what! Does that automatically make me an expert on every issue? NO! Nor does it make you one! By the way, what did the issue of income add to this topic? Absolutely nothing! In addition, did it ever occur to you that the person making the post, WestyGrad02 (Westmont Graduate 2002, in case you couldn't figure it out), is probably 23 or 24 years old?! Odds are that person is not making a six digit salary yet. ODDS ARE YOU WERE NOT MAKING AS SIX DIGIT SALARY AT THAT AGE! By the way, do mommy and/or daddy make six digits individually or do they make six digits with their salaries combined? Never mind, it really isn't important! I will say this, the 23 or 24-year old poster sure showed a great deal more maturity and insight in his post than did the SIX DIGIT A YEAR poster!
2. Your tax money guarantees you nothing more than your property will not be sold at a Sheriff's sale! Paying taxes is a duty, a duty of all property owners regardless of whether or not they have children in the school system. Therefore, you get no more say than a property owner without children! Your tax money guarantees you that your child, and every other child in the school district, will receive the best education that the school district can provide, nothing more! Your tax dollars do not guarantee that every extra-curricular activity your child participates in will be run as you think it should be.
3. As many great coaches have been quoted as saying "you must learn to lose before you can learn to win". This does not mean that losing is acceptable. Rather, this means that losing is a necessary step in the process of winning. If you keep interrupting the process the final goal, winning, will never be achieved! You are right about one thing, something has got to give. That something is what appears to be the constant interference of the parents with the process.

I have said it many times before on this board and others and I will say it again, BE RESPONSIBLE! In this day and age it seems everyone is at fault except the parties involved. When a team loses, it is usually the game officials' fault, the head coach's fault, or the adminstration's fault. It is never little Johnny's fault. He didn't drop the pass, the official missed the pass interference call. It wasn't his fault he fumbled the ball, the ball boy didn't have it dry enough. He didn't miss his block, the defender was offsides but it wasn't called. The play didn't fail because he didn't carry out his part of the play, the coach called the wrong play. I could go on and on but I am sure I have made my point. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS! Until you do that you will never succeed at anything!

Take note, I made my entire point without calling anyone an ignorant bafoon!
Everything looks easy from where you're sitting!

mommyANDdaddy,

1. When did I ever bring up the point about money? I didn't, and it has no relevance to the points I made in my previous post.
2. Your tax dollars are being used to go towards the EDUCATION of your children and to pay the teachers their big salaries. Football, as well as every other sport, is an extracurricular activity which is secondary to their education. The coaches of these sports are paid very little in terms of your tax dollars, so it only makes sense that you should have very little say in who is chosen. It is a PRIVLIDGE to be a part of any team, never forget that.
3. I have had the luck of being a part of some pretty good Westmont football teams, but I have been on my fair share of other teams that have had very few or no wins in a season. It is a part of life and it builds character, depending on how you react to it. The lessons that you are teaching these kids and the future parents of the program is a terrible one, and needs to change.

Now my question to you (taken from my earlier post):
1. What are you going to do when your son has a really hard college professor? You going to personally call the President of his university and raise hell? Honestly, I would like to know...

AmusedObserver,
I appreciate the compliment in your post! It is nice to see someone else on here who gets the big picture. I am just a 23 year old football alum who is sick of seeing the trend in the parents within the program. The parents and their kids definitely have to start taking responsibilities for their actions. In short, I agree with every single point you have made. You hit the nail on the head with that one.

Haha this makes me laugh...Highschool football is about growing up...winning and losing is part of that..the objective is to win not let every kid play..If your kid isnt good and he wants to play sign that little guy up for ayso soccer where everyone plays!

the fact of the matter is McLaurin simply wasnt a good coach. To the people in defense of him, i know where you're coming from, but you weren't on the sidelines. Mclaurin didn't even play football when he was a kid. Are you telling me im supposed to learn math from someone who dropped out of school. Also, Mclaurin would never go to any of the JV games. I know people dont believe that JV is that important, but the fact of the matter is that's your varsity next year. Also, if someone called an audible, he would get angry at them. The kids would get nervous to call an audible, even if they knew it was the right thing to do. Also, at the football banquet, him and Sheehan didnt even show up. Because Will Aurandt was on vacation, they had to have to volunteer coaches introduce the kids. Also, how about the lack of hitting in the beginning of the year. There were no tackling drills until after the loss to McCort. But let me guess, thats the parents fault because they forced Mclaurin to not let us tackle. The fact of the matter is that Westmont had so much talent this year, and its a shame that it went to waste. But hey, theres always next year right?

He'll probably make sure his son attends his college alma mater, send along a portion of that 6-figure salary as some sort of donation to ensure he graduates, and then hire him wherever he works. That way his son can continue to be protected.
