Well, I coach high school sports as well, and I have never had to knock on doors or drive kids to and from college.

Your are entitled to your opinion but you know what they say about opinions. Until you have hung the whistle on your neck, all you have is opinoins. Ask any coach that has played Johnstown this year and they will tell how creative they were on offense just to get Reed in situations that would help him succeed. No doubt he is an unbelievable talent! They found different ways and formations to get him the ball in space.

But of course you would have done better than 7-3 this year!

Look, the bottom line is they are not good game coaches, period. I give you two perfect examples and then I'm done with it.

Vs. Somerset, Johnstown is winning by a few points with about 40 seconds left. and Somerset on around the 35. I don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to know that they have to pass the ball. Play a cover 3 or cover 4, even a prevent and don't give up the long pass play. So what does you buddy Cobaugh do? He is in a base defense and a 5 foot 7 inch Dback is 1 on 1 with Somersets best receiver. The first play they throw it to this mismatch and it is almost caught. That scare enough should have told anyone with a brain to give that kid some help. Very next play the same set up and same pass is thrown and Somerset scores to win the game. No help on the 1 on 1, no prevent or any scheme to help out. Base defense. Pathetic. That loss essentially ended Johnstown's playoff hopes.

Now since I made fun of Cobaugh, I can't leave Penna out. Vs. Bedford, Johnstown recovers a Bedford on side kick with a minute and a half to go. Bedford had no timeouts left. Let's take a knee and win the game, right? Wrong. The retard calls a pass play and throws deep! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? And what happens? You guessed it, the pass was intercepted. That might be one of the absolute dumbest calls I've ever seen on a football field, period. Luckily the JHS defense bailed him out, but that is not the point.

I could spend the rest of my day recalling such brilliant coaching manuevers from your friends, but I'm finished. And since you coach basketball up at Westmont and coach with that loser Cobaugh, why don't you try and talk him into taking the job up in Westmont? I would really appreciate it greatly, as would most JHS fans.

And if you get your wish, I assume you will be putting in your application at Johnstown.

Some talk the talk while others walk the walk. Guess where you fit in.

Oh, the beauty of hiding behind a screen name.

Give me a "cushy" job at the school district and I'll have no problem coaching. Some people actually work for a living more than 180 days a year.

I think, Hilltoppanther, that you are absolutely pathetic that you are a high school coach and you come on to a message board and get into a discussion with people. That is ridiculous. Shouldn't you be watching game film or something? I know how high school coaches are the hardest working bunch around.

Again, I stand by my remarks about the coaches at JHS. They are terrible. I gave some examples earlier. They may do all the other stuff that impresses you, but the bottom line is they DO NOT get it done on the field with arguably the best talent in the area.

By the way, since you're a coach Hilltoppanther, maybe you can answer me this question. Why do high school coaches always feel that they are above criticism? If they are being paid by taxpayer money why shouldn't they be held accountable both on and off of the field? Tony Penna Jr. and Neil Cobaugh might be the nicest two guys in the world. I've never spoken with either of them It's nothing personal. But as far as football coaches I'll debate anybody that they rank near the bottom of the barrel.

It's so funny hearing the same old lines from coaches:

"No one works harder than we do." (The hardest working professionals right in front of heart surgeon and brick layer)
"We do so much for the kids that you don't see." (Give me a break)
"You have no idea because your not down here on the field/court." (One of my alltime favorites.)
"The easiest coaching job is always in the stand."(Another stupid comment with no point.)
"I don't read or pay attention to message boards." (HAHA)
"We give up so much of our own time." (Kinda easy with summers off)

JHS has produced the most Division 1 players of any area school in the past five years, yet they can't beat Westmont or Mccort on a regular basis. Someone explain to me why? I have my theory why and it starts at the top.

Don't knock someone's career choice. This is America, you can be whatever you want to be. You could have had your summers off too.

Why is my posting on this message board pathetic? I think the fact that you can post on here while hiding behind a screen name is what is pathetic.

Once again, put in your application.

Until then, I'm done getting into a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

I agree with hilltoppanther..If you havent been around the system in a while you dont know what you are talking about. If you were a highschool football coach today, you would know that its a year round job. Everyday after school there is lifting and other training and in the summer you have that and passing leagues and combines to help your kids with. Every Friday in the season you prepare all day for the game and then stay after the game to break down film. Then there is all the helping to get your kids recruited. Coaches do not get paid alot and are unappreciated..Im not saying that if theres a bad coach he still deserves the job..Im just saying dont talk down on that proffesion when you dont know much about the topic.

Some names listed are obviously not suited for this poll.

One name I would add, however, is Tim Regan. He was one of the up-and-coming Crusher coaches. I guess he left to take a job elsewhere (I think in the Johnstown area), but he'd be a great candidate for HC.

Of course you answered none of my questions. Why are coaches above criticism?

And the funniest thing is, I get to add another stupid saying to my list that we've all heard a million times,
" I'm done having a batlle of wits with an unarmed person." HAHA. Is your play calling that unoriginal?
