LHAC Predictions 1-18-08

Central Cambria by 22 over Bedford
-The Red Devils are too talented for the feisty Bison. This game will be close in the first 10 minutes, then CC will open things up.
Bishop McCort by 3 over Somerset
-The last time these two met, it went down to the last possession. McCort didn't have their basketball legs at that time, while Somerset had been practicing since day 1. Look for the Crushers to defend their home turf and even things up in the section.
Forest Hills by 4 over Penn Cambria
-Look for Gallaher and and Skoner to pace the Rangers. Forest Hills wins this at the foul line in the fourth quarter.
Johnstown by 13 over Bishop Carroll
-Weatherly vs. Tranquillo. Who can lead their team to victory? It won't be the one who scores the most, but the one who makes everyone better tonight. Weatherly prevails with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and most importantly 7 assists.
Windber by 2 over Westmont
-Westmont played fantastic against Central Cambria, then laid an egg at Da Heights. Westmont won the first meeting at the War Memorial in December but Mike Webb did not play in that game. Look for the Ramblers to upset the Hilltoppers at home.

CC over Bedford 71-43. Good first half. Bedford only down 7 at the break. It seemed to me that turnovers in the 3rd lead to CC's 20 point lead at the end of 3. If Bedford takes care of the ball they may stay within 10 or less. Smith got in foul trouble and had to sit, which hurt Bedford. Zach Hess held Miller to his lowest total of the year - 13pts. Hess has missed the last 3 games (I think)for the Bison and is still nursing a bad bone bruise in the thigh, the way it looked tonight, he is still hurting. If Bedford had the guards to sub for their injured and sick they may have kept it close. CC was the better team-no doubt. It was nice to see Hess keep Miller in check. Mark Scott had to leave the game sick as well, but did return to score in double digits - close to 20, I'll bet. It didn't seem like the Bison guards were 100%. Even if they were 100% they would have needed a near perfect game to beat the Devils.
One thing for sure is that CC does have weaknesses. No bench and if you pressure Miller, you can take him out of the game. He got a little frustrated with Hess. Lots of pushing off as he went thru the lane. It will be good to see Hess match up with him the next year too.
Bedford didn't look as bad as their record shows. I think they have only one loss to Bedford County teams but the rest came to LHAC teams. The good news for them is that they are all back next year for the exeption of Smith.
