Any word on Bedfords Coach
Re: Any word on Bedfords Coach
there is a very good coach that applied from a neighboring district that I hope gets a real good look.....younger guy with college-level playing experience, and HS coaching experience. Real nice guy, and I think he has the right mindset for turning things around here. I hope someone in Bedford looks real hard at his application.

If they would advertise now, how would they get someone to "just coach" football for $3000. Wouldnt it make sense to maybe have a teaching job to go with it. The school board doesn't know yet if there will be a vacancy in any of the schools at Bedford so they need to wait and then advertise once a teaching position opens.
Otherwise they could get someone like who "thinks" they are a good coach and never dealt with kids on a day to day basis applying for the job. It is definitely better to get someone who teaches to also coach. That is the thinking of the Bedford Admin. They have had a lot of people inquire about the job so far. I heard Rogish and also heard that an assistant coach from the AAAA state champs in PA had inquired. They all have been told to wait until it is posted. I highly doubt someone would leave a current teaching job to coach a Bedford without having a teaching position to go with it. Hopefully the middle school phys. ed. (currently held by the fomer head football coach) position will open as well. It is foolish to wait and hire but I see their thinking on waiting for any teaching positions to open as well.
it would be cool if rogish or the Quad A assistant would get hired do u think theres any chance they will be hired or just rumors

Rogish was just a rumor. Their was a guy who is an asst. with Quad A team in the WPIAL that is interested but not sure if he is a teacher or what he is even certified in. I also dont know if he actually applied or not. He did call and inquire about the position because his mother must live in the Bedford Area and he wants to be near her. I heard a few other names as well but that is just rumor. I am told they have actually posted the position and are advertising. I am curious who Boxer knows of that would be good. Bedford has a couple 'in house' people that would do good, but I dont know if they are interested or not. There names have been brought up in many converstations. They are young and would be good for the program. Is it true Wilkens at Ridge is applying?? Since Ridge is opening all their positions, I would assume this may make sense for him.

boxer who are u talking about???
Re: Any word on Bedfords Coach
I don't want to give his name out on here, because I didn't ask him if he wanted people to know he applied (he is currently coaching HS right now). I sort of phrased 'neighboring school' wrong, as he is not in Bedford County, but is what I would call 'local', as he is within Altoona Mirror coverage area.
Our son's wrestle together, and we've talked football many times, and I really like his outlook on running a program. He will need a teaching position also, so I'm not sure what is being offered by Bedford right now, as that would prevent him from taking the job.
Bedford would be wise to really look into hiring him.......

are they close to getting anybody yet???
Re: Any word on Bedfords Coach
I talked this week to one of the Bedford decision-makers on this position, and the guy that I mentioned in this post is getting strong consideration.......I just hope they offer a nice teaching job too, as this will be a critical issue in him taking the job.

Re: Any word on Bedfords Coach
when I was talking with this Bedford Administrator they said that they have been hearing nothing but good about him, and they intended to really look at his resume.
