something fun- predict where the games will be
something fun- predict where the games will be
I know some of my fellow hoops fans love trying to pick sites for games. Why not do it here? Make your predictions... will they get paired up with gals games?
A boys-
Serra Catholic vs. Bentworth
Coudersport vs. Kennedy
AAA boys-
Steel High vs. Bradford
General McLane vs. Blackhawk
AA girls-
N Cambria vs. Girard
B McCort vs. Greensburg CC
These are the western games that we could probably give solid guesses at.
I'll say Coudersport vs. Kennedy at Dubois
Steel High vs. Bradford at State College (Bradford down and then just off 80, Steel High comes in off 322)
N Cambria vs. Girard at Clarion with McLane and Blackhawk in a double header
McCort vs. Greensburg CC at UPJ if that isn't considered too close for BM...

Re: something fun- predict where the games will be
Coach on a side note : One of the most interesting plays i have yet to see happened in the final minutes of this game. The Mccort girl was taking the ball out under Villas hoop.. because of Villas pressure she had nobody to pass to.. after more than five seconds she realized she needed to get rid of the ball tried leaning forward to pass? .. She ended up falling inbounds.. then passed to a teammate and nothing was called? Hmmmm !!!!!
McCort is simply better than Villa. Congratulations on the win!! After the first Q, McCort handled Villa pressure really well and were able to get into the lane and make some shots (#10 was outstanding tonight). Bishop's full court press and zone defense was a nightmare for Villa. They couldn't figure out that zone to save their lives. I think Villa hit about 6 o 7 three pointers or it would have much much worse. No way was this game a fluke - McCort would win again if they played.
That {T} on Villa's asst. coach did hurt but Bishop had a good handle on the game. But why is your asst coach jumping off the bench and waving his hands in the air in disgust at the officials. He lost control and it put the game away for BM.
Note: isnt it amazing that he is the (Athletic Director) of the diocese, and acts like that???
=======================================================================================================
Now! for that Where are they going to play?
I think they should make Steel High & Bradford play at the Windber Gym   The Owls & Rollers might play at Clarion U.
Serra & Benthworth, at Ringgold H.S.
Cowdy & Kennedy, at Sharon H.S.
Mclane & The Hawk, at The Polumbo Center (AAA) needs lots of room.....
N. Cambria & Girard at Slippery Rock (or) Clarion Why ? Mr. Blucas has lots of pull in D #10.....
McCort & Greensburg, at either Hempfield (or) I.U.P. Why? McCort 2nd seeded....
I know they'd like to pair these games up, but this time i say they split them because of getting down to the Nitty~Gritty, & more fans will start to go to watch the games & they'll simply need more room....
This guess & 50 cents, might get ME a coffee :?:

Ripping off MSA Sports Network with the North Catholic and GJR schedules? Now plagiarizing people from PennLive? I just don't get it.

Re: something fun- predict where the games will be
I agree with Head Roadie...The lone exception may be that Serra/Bentworth may be at Canon Mac HS and Lebo/Schenley could be at North Al...
UPDATE...I just checked the PIAA site...HR was almost right on...NC girls are going to SRU and McCort girls will be at St. Voncent.
My favorite matchup since the brackets were changed to become top heavy with "east" teams was this one in AAAA boys a few years back in a "western" final:
Erie McDowell vs. Lower Merion
at State College Area HS
4-4 1/2 hour drive for each team on a Wednesday (school) night...Brilliant.
Bring back the old brackets where WPIAL AAAA gets 10 teams, LOL (that wasn't fair to the east, either)...
BTW, Head Roadie...How will the brackets change NEXT season when the Philly Catholic League enetrs the PIAA? Who will lose a bid? Will the PIAA just expand the field and make more "play-in" games (ie-expand the field to 42 or 48 teams with pigtail play-ins feeding into District champs following district championship weekends on Tuesday/Wednesday night)? When will the new brackets be announced?
I say: make even more $$$$$ and expand each classification to 48 teams, begin play a little earlier...
Example of 48 team bracket in boys AAAA:
District # of bids
1 10
2 1
3 8
4 1
6 2
7 8
8 2
9-10 2
11 2
12 6
13 6
TOTAL 48 teams
Your thoughts? I see the PIAA expanding the brackets to accommodate the Phila Cath League, rather than eliminating teams...I think that a 48 team bracket with play-ins would be the way to go.

Re: something fun- predict where the games will be
Brackets have not been announced yet.
Although I like your idea, I foresee things staying the same. Dist. 12 (Philly) may pick up a bid in one or all classifications. The only way Play-In's will be added is if any district losers their runnerup because of D12 expanding. The Play Ins are specifically for District's whose runnersup would not ordinarily qualify based on the PIAA's ratio system.
They are still working on football playoffs (I'm to go to Pgh. sometime in the next month regarding a new 5-8-9 sub-region proposal in "AA") so I don't see basketball coming out until summer possibly.

Re: something fun- predict where the games will be
According to the Philly News D12 with the addition of the Catholic League will get one additional qualifier in AAAA, AAA, and two in AA for next year. That means someone will be losing or spot or they'll be adding a play in game in each classification (two in AA)
Re: something fun- predict where the games will be
speaking of travel, why did Johnstown have to travel to Hershey when Steel-High was moved to the West bracket?

Re: something fun- predict where the games will be
Beacuse it's PIAA policy that District champs always play close to home (within their district) for forst round games, that's why Jtown had to travel so far.
Second round games and beyond are played at a "reasonable geographic midpoint."
