Penn State had 3 big QB targets for 2009:

1. Kevin Newsome
2. Tom Savage
3. Tate Forcier

Savage = Rutgers
Newsome = Michigan
Forcier = ?

Then go look at the RB targets. Sure the sky isn't falling yet?

I was thinking the problems at Penn State weren't necessarily being noticed, but they are everywhere now. I have seen writers on ESPN and SportingNews talk about it along with it being on the sports talk shows. They need a change in direction and they better get it quick.

It's way worse than people want to accept. WAY WORSE. Everything that interviewer asked Paterno last weekend was valid, and was evidence of the growing state of unrest in the fans and bystanders. They need to win 10-11 games this year to save this recruiting class.

Before anyone jumps on me for putting too much stock in the recruiting, and yes I know kids do not always pan out, but the point I was eventually going to make in this thread was that QB's don't get developed at Penn State. They need to be already at a good level when they come to Happy Valley, because the quarterback development up there is so bad. They targeted Newsome, Forcier, and Savage.

Tom Savage is a PA kid who chose RUTGERS over the much more prestigious Penn State, and Big Ten. *special note at the bottom*

Newsome is straight out of PSU's supposed "recruiting hotbed" of the Chesapeake Bay region. Once again, a kid opts to scoff Penn State for someone else. I don't expect every kid to go to Happy Valley. I'm saying that Newsome is yet another kid who did NOT go to PSU, which is a growing trend of that region, one that we normally do well in. And to boot, he picked a complete ***hole of a head coach over the PSU staff, and a team in PSU's conference. They didn't end up being first place in their CONFERENCE in the Newsome sweepstakes!

Forcier seems to like Penn State but if that kid has a big year, which he will, he's not coming from California to State College.

**Note on the Savage thing. This might work to our advantage in the end. If the rumors are true about Schiano's name high on the PSU list, maybe Joe will leave after 08 and Schiano will take over. He was an assistant at Penn State back in the day, and was rumored to disregard the Miami job because he wants to coach Penn State. I would love that hire. If Savage is attached to Schiano, maybe he'll transfer.
