Opening Night Thoughts

Post by The Ancient Enemy »

Did anyone see Jacory Harris running at Miami? Good lord! That team might have a lot of youth, but they are without question the most athletic team in that conference. Like I predicted months ago... Canes take the ACC!

Did anyone see Robert Griffin at Baylor? Hoochie mama! Remember when I said that Baylor is on their way up? Wait until they get those WRs in place in a year or two. Griffin is a Coperas Cove kid who grew up close to Baylor, and picked Baylor over much better programs. They are gonna sneak up on someone this year. Might be your Horns, Deliverance. UT defenses have shown weakness against scrambling QBs.

Oregon State is giving me headaches. At the end of the 1st half, they had a huge drive to tie that game. It was no fluke, much to PSU's chagrin. That Morales kid is heavily, heavily underrated. Moevao, the QB, every other down he is awful. That kid makes terrible reads, throws into double coverage, and also makes bad decisions. BUT... they have shown the propensity to get the ball down the field very quickly. Stroughter is not overrated, but he is somewhat afraid of getting hit. I am very concerned with the PSU corners matching up against Morales and Stroughter. I am not at all concerned with the running game. But at the end of the day, I think PSU will be lucky enough to catch Oregon State early, where Moevao won't be able to mature in a week.

Spurrier has another mess at quarterback. Beecher might end up being good in a little while, but this kid is overthrowing everybody. And that offensive line is TERRIBLE. For SC to contend against Tennessee and UF and Georgia... wow. Good luck.

I agree the scrambing quarterback has given Texas a lot of scares in the past. I think the defense will be top 10 in the nation this year, though. Muschamp finds a way to get these guys fired up for practice. I can only imagine what he will do for the games. I am ready for the season to start.

There's some weird thing where 3 of the UT games every season are on pay per view. People in Austin don't even get to see them. It's pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, I had to pay $30 to watch it. It was worth it this year, though. Last season against Arkansas State was not. Should have stuck to the radio for that one last year.
