Projected BCS games

Now that we have a couple weeks under out belt....i think its a very interesting thing to watch how different the BCS picture jumps from week to week.

Here our my week 4 BCS porjected matchups

National Championship- USC vs. OklahomaAs of right now how could you not say the Trojans aren't number 1? They have defense and offense and coaching and a fairly easy slate the rest of the way.Sanchez looks like a winner to me. The Sooners look like the Sooner teams from a few years back with a high scoring offense and a solid Defense. Sam Bradford is going to light up the Bix 12.


Rose Bowl-Ohio State vs. Florida
I think the Buckeyes are capable of still winning the Big 10. Give them a chance to let Beanie get back into the offense and maybe Pryor will get to do some more things. I dont think it can be a Pac 10 opponent cause none of them will be worthy. Florida will come in as an At large led by Teabow and Harvey....too hard to run the table in the SEC.


Sugar Bowl-Georgia vs. Penn State
The Dawgs will win the SEC but i dont think they will be undefeated.... 1 possibly 2 losses. Penn State can come into the BCS picture with a loss to OSU and maybe one to Wisconsin but i see them at 11-1 or 10-2

Fiesta Bowl-BYU vs. Missouri
This will be quite the Offensive showdown. Daniel to Maclin is one impressive connection. BYU's Max Hall spreads the ball to everyone. and this seems to be the place where they throw the mid-majors because theyre either Mountin West or WAC teams

Orange Bowl- South Florida vs. Wake Forest
USF seems to be the class of the Big East and Matt Grothe seems to be better then last year. Wake Forest certainly wasn't the preseason pick to be the ACC representative but, Jim Grobe can flat out coach!


This is just an early look i mean theres about 4-5 teams from the SEC alone that could be considered along with a few more Big 12 teams. But I like to see from week to week how these 5 big games can change. For right now i think they are fairly accurate.

I can't see the Big 10 getting two teams in BCS bowls, but other than that I can't argue your predictions much. The SEC and Big 12 are the only two conferences worthy of getting 2 or more. The Pac 10 would probably get two before the Big 10, but there are a lot of games left.

Not bad projections. I think the only way the Big Ten gets two BCS bids is if it goes how it has during the past two years, meaning one Big Ten team plays (or pretends to play) in the national title game, opening up a spot for another team. The only recent exception to that (that I can remember) was in 2005 when PSU went to the Orange Bowl and Ohio State went to the Fiesta Bowl. One possible argument for the BCS picking two Big Ten teams, especially if we are talking Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, or Wisconsin is that their alumni travel well, and will draw big ratings.

It is no possible to have more than 2 teams in BCS games from the same conference. The rules do not permit it.

They wont match Florida with Ohio State. OSU is going to get a team like Wake Forest or BYU.

Well Ohio State would get the Rose Bowl....and if they cant get the ideal Big Ten Pac 10 matchup id imagine theyd take the next best team and i doubt we would see Wake Forest or BYU thrown into the Rose Bowl.
and if you recall a few years back they put Texas against Michigan in the Rose Bowl So theyll put huge prgrams together in that game if they have to

ham55, do you agree with those rules? I do most years, but this year seems to be different. The SEC has 5 teams in the top 10 as of right now and the Big 12 has 3. Where is a playoff when you need one?

No I really don't agree with those rules. In 2006 when Ohio State was undefeated and Michigan had 1 loss, a 2 loss Wisconsin team was held out of a BCS game because of that rule, even though they were ranked 7th.

The SEC won't have 5 ranked teams in the top 10,4 weeks from now. Once conference play gets deeper those teams HAVE to lose at some point. And Auburn and LSU are bound to fall hard once they start playing tougher competition.

It will all shake out in the end. And the BCS isn't going anywhere for a long time, unfortunately.

They dont get the automatic bowl tie-ins anymore in the BCS, Crimson. The bowl committees just prefer to have a Big Ten - Pac-10 match up if possible. The rules about "Rose Bowl = Big10 / Pac-10" are no longer in effect.
