Re: Bedford Football
See, the problem here with youth tackle and all these other things, is that the administration at bedford are all for academics, theyre scholars and dang good ones too. I'm not sayint this is a bad thing, but obviously for the football program it is.
Re: Bedford Football
I have not been on here in a couple years and when I saw the posts about Bedford football I was disgusted. Youth tackle football leagues would be a great idea. I didn't plan on coming on here and arguing about any topic. I went to a couple games last year when I was on leave and came back to find a different football team. More hitting, harder hitting, brutal hitting. I think that will solve the problem. Turning players into pitbulls. Motivating them to win at all costs. This mentality wins wars and will win football games. I understand not every team can have talented athletes every year but I just don't see that mentality pumped into players heads anymore. You can sit here and say players will get hurt/there is too much liability ect ect but in the end I believe more hitting/tackling drills will help this program out. I was excited to see Dan Smith take over and wish him luck. It's time to take the gloves off Bedford. Semper Fi Hit Hard Go Blue!
Re: Bedford Football
That is EXACTLY what I've been hearing.......that there have been comments made to the effect of 'we're a school not a sports program'. Other comments I have heard is they don't like paying the assistants very well (or at all), and follow that with comments of 'we have to give money to other organizations like the drama club'. When I heard that, my hope for a good football program at Bedford went right out the window.instantkarma wrote:See, the problem here with youth tackle and all these other things, is that the administration at bedford are all for academics, theyre scholars and dang good ones too. Stupid question, but I don't even KNOW who the Bedford super is? What is his background (did he grow up in Bedford?).

Re: Bedford Football
when do you think the coaches will realize that this offense does not work with this group of young men?
Im guessing perhaps after the 6th or 7th loss

Re: Bedford Football
when people from bedford get it in there heads that old man bill creps has know idea what he is doing with the defence and make him step down they might get a coach that can win games again . but as long as you keep him around you will never get a winning coach he has always been a joke

Yea, if you saw the forest hills game, the offense did virtually nothing untill they started using power with a lead blocker, they drove down the feild and almost scored, of course the other side of that is forest hills was up by 23 and didnt really care if they scored or not, and if you said that to a bedfordian theyd be all "well, what kind of offense did we run with troy harrris and we went undefeated" which they would be right. IMHO i think a wing T belly series is wonderfull, just not every play. Theyre should be about a 1/2 power and 1/2 wing T. But what do i know.Outsider wrote:when do you think the coaches will realize that this offense does not work with this group of young men?

Re: Bedford Football
You have to be willing to adapt your offense to the players, not vice-versa. Take a look at Bishop Carrol for on example. They ran the spread last year, and ran it to very high standards. This year, personnel changed with graduation/recruits(easy, it's a joke) and they've revamped their offense to the more traditional run and shoot offense. Troy Harris and Kyler Ford could run the mid-line series to perfection, because they were great athletes and were surrounded with a tremendous supporting cast(John Aaron, Derrick Harris, Shane Fox, Jesse Feaster, Mike Young, Cory Miller). That offense worked for a team that had not one or two great athletes, but multiple great athletes, because deception and not knowing who was going to tote the load every time. In 2006, Bedford lost all that deception when all those athletes graduated outside of Feaster. And when he tried to carry the load for Bedford that year, he was good enough to earn a 6-5 record for them, but it wasn't anywhere near enough. The offense isn't the only problem for Bedford. Creps was bold enough this year to state that this year, with Swaim gone, the defense would be much improved because Swaim never let Creps do what he needed to do to be successful. Well guess what, Billy, you're 0-3 and averaging giving up 33 points per game. Kids are constantly out of position and look down right clueless at times. He's the biggest problem with the program. Has been for years and will continue to be until a headcoach is hired and tells him that his services are no longer wanted or needed.
