haha...when their Vice Principal (Bedrock) stops hanging out on messageboards, and does something about the program----You know, since he has those 'inside connections' he was so quick to brag about.
But, what do I know......I'm from the city, and our Vice Principals did boring stuff like deal with student problems and monitor the schools sports programs.
I've had about 10 different parents approach me this week ALONE, and complain about the poor tackling and fundamentals. But a good youth program won't solve that----I mean Ridge just stomped CT, but I guess that had nothing to do with the great youth program you guys have, lol.

Lets not forget that in the first game of the year Bedford's offense was looking pretty good. But they lost their best running back which really limits this offense. It's not real easy to just change your offense a game into the season. Bedford just isn't deep or talented enough this year to overcome major injury's.

Re: Bedford Football
We can debate youth programs (flag v. tackle) (do they help v. do they hurt), but as of right now I thik Bedford's varsity is better than Ridge's.
Bedford has lost to 4 pretty good teams in mostly competitive games (Jtown, BC, FH, PC).
Ridge is 2-2 and has gotten whipped by windber and greenville and their 2 wins are against a weak Berlin team and an average A team in CT (with a little help from the weather).

Well, has anybody been to any flag football games?? They stack 2 teams to which they feel will be bedfords future stars. I remember thats how it was with this group of players. And btw bedrock is a vice principle?
Re: Bedford Football
From the parents I talked to its even worse this year with flag football and the lack of coaching. I was told that a certain coach was telling his players to un-tuck their shirts so the flags aren't so 'easily' grabbed. LOL. And yes, I heard the 'stacking' is still going on, so there's not a whole lot being learned in this program. Sad part is it is not the kids faults----when you have inexperienced coaches, and un-ethical coaches, this is what you get.greenirish wrote:Well, has anybody been to any flag football games?? And yes, I got a few PM's telling me that bedrock is the VP of the high school (which I later verifed through previous posts of his).......nice to see my tax dollars at work paying for the VP to surf the internet and argue with posters.

How are the teams for flag football chosen? It used to be that you played for the township that you lived in. Is that how it's still done?

Re: Bedford Football
Ha ha, Its funny you say that, usually the town teams would have there share of players but when there are to many kids they put the inexperienced kids on teams like snake spring..Then once thoses kids have played on snakes spring team for a year or 2 and gained experience then the coaches would want them back on there team. Now tell me how that is fair?

I'm working with a couple other parents on getting a meeting place/date to gauge interest. I've gotten alot of interest from parents, but I'd like to set up a meeting to see if they are 'really' interested. I am coaching another sport right now, so I have to find time to get going on this meeting----but by all accounts, people do seem interested. There are even some coaches in the JH and JV level that have given interest to the program.
I hear that the flag program is real shady this year, so this is helping the tackle movement all the more.
