I think that some of you would be suprised at how well many of the area coaches stack up to their counterparts in the WPIAL. I know and have talked football with coaches in the LHAC, Heritage and WPIAL and find that there isn't a big difference in MOST. Some stand out for sure and granted, the ones that really stand out are in the WPIAL. But if you eliminate the 5 or 6 coaches that are above the others, there is not much difference. Athletes make a coach look really good. Put Curry or Neal Gordan at Saltsburg and the result would the same. Neal's assistant when he was at Penn Hills took the Saltsburg job for a couple of years. The result - no wins. Talk to Shumaker about option football and he can "X and O" it as well as Smith at McKeesport. Talk to Blairsville's retired line coach and he will match Rich Johns' knowledge at Franklin Regional. These are only two examples of many. Don't sell the area's coaching staffs short.

good points T, thought of Max after posting...excellent coach who was coach there & ran a collegiate like attack (reminded me of Air Forces' O) w/ T Harris for a couple of yrs.?....and also forgot another excellent coach Mr Page @ Laurel Valley!
