BCS Standings are out!!!

Post by deliverance »

1. Alabama
2. Texas Tech
3. Penn State
4. Texas
5. Florida

I think they got it right. Florida should probably be ahead of Texas, but they did lose to an unranked Ole Miss team. Tech will lose one of their next two, so don't worry PSU fans. If you win out, you should be in.

Thoughts?

Who has Florida beaten? Georgia played 2 decent teams and got annihalated in both contests. Florida also lost to an unranked team.

In 1982, the year PSU won the National Championship, they lost to Alabama 42-21 in October of that season. That did not preclude them from playing in the Big Game. So losing to an unranked team early in the season should not keep Florida or USC from moving up in the standings ahead of PSU if either or both have only ONE loss. Depends how the rest of the season plays out. Being undefeated does not guarantee playing for the National Championship.

Agreed, Moldo. I posted in another thread about that a 1 loss team still has a chance to pass PSU. PSU will need some more style points in the next few weeks and then they will probably be fine.

Frosty says: IF Penn State wins out, book the tickets to Miami to see PSU vs. Florida for all the marbles.

Texas Tech drops one, Florida beats 'Bama in the SEC title game.

Here's a good read from the Post-Gazette
