Bigger schools dont mean bigger, better players....it just means that schools have more people to draw from

In soccer and basketball, Richland has the same enrollment and is considered to be the same class (usually) and yet Conemaugh Township, North Star, etc. have repeatedly beat district 6 and LHAC teams in basketball and soccer.

heck, last year, A Township played AAA Johnstown in basketball...Johnstown won 59-42, but the game was close till the 4th quarter....I'm not saying the sports are the same, I'm just saying...a strong Township, Windber, NS, Portage team right now COULD compete with AND BEAT teams like richland, cambria heights, and others

Not to mention that last year, Conemaugh Township played AA riverside of the WPIAL. More players to draw from, better atheltes...Township whooped them.

Just becuase the LHAC is superior...doesnt mean some WestPAC teams coulnt compete...especially with the lower half

CT, I agree. A bigger school doesn't mean better players, it just means more to pick from. Which in turn leads to more competion for playing time which usually improves a teams overall depth, which in football is important. I think in football more than other sports having more kids to draw from is a big advantage. When you start getting down to the 8th through 11th starter at a single A school there is probably a sizable drop off in talent level. At a bigger school that drop off may not be as significant. In basketball where you are only playing 5 guys at time, I don't think it is as much of an issue.
