Portage/Purchase Line

Post by red4life »

So, your thoughts on tonights game.

Can the Mustangs avenge last years season ending loss to the same team?

Or will Purchase Line make it two straight years sending Portage home with their only loss?

What is the over/under on rushing yards? Id say 600???

These teams come in with a combined 7,000 rushing yards! Port-3895, PL- 3256
#2 vs #3
WestPac vs Heritage
22-0 combined record
Outscore opponents: 850-223

Not sure if field conditions will make a difference, but penalties and the passing game will come into play.

Take a look at passing...

QBs
Portage- Swires -28/55 549 yards 7 tds 1int
Purchase Line- Limrick- 19/45 321 yards 3tds 2ints

Portage has 6 Wrs with a TD, Burkett and Hershberger lead the pack with 5 catches each both over 100 yards. Limrick's favorite target is Wright with 7-144 and a TD. Again, the nod goes to Portage.

If it comes down to passing, Ill take Portage. I will also take Portage's ground attack vs PL's. This should be a great HS football game. "Whoever makes the least mistakes will come out on top" type-of-game...

Ill take Portage 35
Purchase Line-21

I think Burgan and Sinosky are just going to be too much for the Purchase Line defense to handle.

I have seen both teams play. Last year I picked PL. I thought that their defense could stop Portage's modified Wing-T offense and it did. This year, even though PL is undefeated they struggled in several games in the conference. They beat Blairsville in OT and won close ones against Laurel Valley and one other I can't remember. I don't believe that they are as strong as they were last year and Portage is stronger. I have to go with Portage to face McCort in the championship game.

WAyyyyyyyyyy early in the year, Mo Valley really dominated purchase line in a scrimmage. I know that doesn't really mean anything.. Mt Union played well against Central, TM played well vs Portage, etc. I just feel like Portage is going to be the better team in this one. We'll see in a few hours. At least it is starting to clear up. I hope that holds for tonight's games.

LHsportsguy...my dad is at the game. I'll keep you posted.
I just talked to him a few minutes ago. Looks like a sale-out crowd. 6:00...cars are backed up two blocks waiting to get into the stadium parking lot
