Re: Jordan Miller to UPJ
compaq...I'm sure if Friday see what I see, then he can't get the talent he can recruit there fast enough...Friday has inherited a huge problem, created by Bobby Jones.
Jones recruited and gave scholarships to players like Hoffman, Profeta, and Spaid who are not talented or athletic enough to contribute at even a small D1 basketball school like SFU. Those 3 are just examples...At their best, they are 5-8 minute a game role players, and that's only if the matchups are favorable, even at an SFU. Those 3 would've been good (not great, but serviceable) D2 players at a PSAC type school, and they would've been excellent D3 players.
The new coach is left to clean up the mess and try to "make do" with no appreciable talent for a year or two.

Jordan is not fast enough, strong enough, or tall enough to play on a division 1 level. The only school that was recruiting him was SFU and they maybe one 10 games the last 2 seasons so that doesnt say much. He will be a good fit a UPJ but he will still be a role player, just look UPJ are still recruiting other gaurds that lets you know how they feel about J Miller. The upside is UPJ will probobly beat SFU this year and next, and Jordan still has time to get faster and stronger.
The reason he doesnt translate into a great college player is on the college level you have to be able to defend the basketball. Everyone can score and shoot and dribble, but if you can't defend you are a liability and your wont see much time, thats what he needs to work on more than anything

Agreed re: Jordan Miller...I know a former D1 coach who has seen him play...Says he's an excellent HS player, especially for that area but would have major problems matching up against and defending the athletic, quick, big guards, which you find at the D1 level, even in the NEC where SFU plays. He's a great fit at UPJ where he will be attending. Hope he has a great senior season, and then does well at UPJ.

Good pick up from UPJ, it came as a surprise Coach Ruk wasnt even recruiting him, but when SFU named there new coach the Miller's could see the writting on the wall. He will find his way at UPJ, he can really stroke the basketball and if you can shoot it like that he will find minutes. I think unless he can get quicker he will be used in the 2 gaurd spot, Ruk loves small quick point gaurd who can control the tempo of the game on both sides of the ball.
UPJ is also about to get one of the best players out of the WPIAL Nick Novak, a scoring gaurd who can play either the 1, or the 2 spots. With them 2 in the back court UPJ should be good for years to come.

I see Novak from Franklin Regional as more of a point guard...Good player, have seen him play numerous times. He has an excellent mid-range game and can pull up and hit the 8-10-12 foot shot with good elevation. He's not the biggest or most athletic kid, but is pretty hard nosed. His issue could be guarding quick PGs.

That is what I would say about him too. He is like the PG from Villinova (Reynolds) he can drop 40 on you from the PG spot. His mid range game is great, but he struggles from behind the arch, if he can improve that aspect of his game he will very tough to stop.WPIAL~Titan wrote:I see Novak from Franklin Regional as more of a point guard...Good player, have seen him play numerous times.
