Okay, everyone who thinks that the rivalry is strictly JoePa's stubbornness, that's only part of it...the smaller part at that. Beaver Stadium sells the same amount of tickets whether they play a team like Pitt or a team like Central Michigan. The difference is the teams like Central Michigan don't demand a home game in return the next year. So let me ask you this, why would you want to rotate games at home with a team year in and year out when you could make twice as much money by playing a crappy team at home every year?

Because it was a great rivalry in the past and could potentially be some excellent games in the future. PSU's out of conference schedule is already piss poor. Penn State fans were worried that if they went undefeated they would still get left out of the national title game. Well maybe if they would schedule someone with a pulse out of conference and beat them then they wouldn't have to worry about that. But just keep worrying about selling tickets and making money...

BTW, Central Michigan is very solid this year and would give a lot of BCS teams trouble. Lefeavour is probably one of the top 10 college qb's right now.

Playing Pitt would be great for Penn State, and the state of Pennsylvania. I understand the numbers aspect of it, but at some point rivals have to play one another. Or else we're subjected to WPIAL-Titan's "fuzzy math" posts.

It's just one of another ways JoePa has been successfully running the program into the ground since the mid-90's. Keep being content with 9-10 wins and a bowl game, at some point though, you're gonna want more. And maybe Penn State would have been prepared for a tough game vs. a team that was very beatable had they not played Coastal Carolina, Temple, and Syracuse.

My memory can only go back to the last meeting between the teams, because the only thing I recall about Pitt/PSU is 12-0 and PSU not crossing the Pitt 40 the whole game.

Isn't that the year PSU fans could not buy an individual ticket to the game. They were forced to buy into a package plan that included the Temple at Pitt ticket game if they wanted to see PSU at Pitt. $$$$$

i know this doesnt involve Pitt (who sadly lost tonight and lost their chance to even have a shot at Penn State in a BCS bowl) but what kind of classless bull is it when you (MSU) call two back to back time-outs with less than 10 seconds to go when your trailing by a landslide...that's just pathetic and in very bad taste

First off, there is no way Pitt would have played Penn State in any BCS game. Penn State won, and that eliminated that from all possibility. They're gonna get the Pac-10 Champion.

Secondly, if Dantonio thought that by taking 2 time outs back to back was gonna stop or slow down the celebration that was going to happen, he's retarded. He was pissed off that he was humiliated again in a huge game, and doesn't know how to take his lumps.

At the end of the day Penn State is the Big10 Champions in 2008. 2 in 4 years.

It's good that PSU will finally get back to the Rose Bowl. They may finally catch Texas in Rose Bowl wins. The sad part is Texas doesn't even have ties to the Rose Bowl, but still have more wins in it.

As of 15 years ago, neither did Penn State. It's not like they've been in the Big10 since 1855.
