Steve Green to UConn
Re: Steve Green to UConn
Iona, NC Central, and Bryant are I-AA (independent, but still classified at I-AA). Look at the teams you just named. They are all in the CAA (colonial athletic association) which I believe to be the best conference in I-AA. There are plenty of other conferences in I-AA that are not good at all, and if they played the some of the top-notch D-II teams they would lose.El-Moldo wrote:Give me some examples of DII schools which beat I-AA schools over the past couple of years. Here's a couple of good ones from this year. Delaware over West Chester 48-20, James Madison over NC Central 56-7, Maine over Iona 55-7, Umass over Bryant 42-7. I'm sure I could many more if I had the time. And what was that St. Francis score against VMI (which isn't even a top-notch I-AA team)?
Re: Steve Green to UConn
I'm showing how I-AA VMI (which is NOT a top-notch I-AA school) compares to a "non-scholarship" I-AA school like St.Francis in the NEC. Imagine what VMI would do to a typical DII school. Sure, every once in a while an Appalachian State beats a Michigan. And I'm sure there have been instances when a DII team has beaten a "true" I-AA team. But those occasions are few and far between. And I'm sure that there are former DII players in the NFL. But again, the NFL has many I-AA players like Brian Westbrook, Joe Flacco, etc etc. on team rosters compared to DII players.
Re: Steve Green to UConn
I am not saying that there are more I-AA player in the NFL compared to D-II. I am just saying that D-II teams could beat I-AA teams. Doesnt matter if it is a top-notch school. It is all I-AA not matter how you look at. The higher teams would beat average to below-average I-AA teams. Teams like grand valley, CALPA, North, and South Dakota could beat almost every team in the pioneer league, and many of the other lower leagues (not the SOCON, big south, CAA, Big West, or Gateway)El-Moldo wrote:I'm showing how I-AA VMI (which is NOT a top-notch I-AA school) compares to a "non-scholarship" I-AA school like St.Francis in the NEC. Re: Steve Green to UConn
The only so-called I-AA teams that would consistantly struggle against DII teams would be those in the NEC. And again, the teams in the NEC are "specially" designated as I-AA.
Re: Steve Green to UConn
More teams than in the NEC would struggle with top D-II schools. The pioneer, southwestern athletic, independent, NEC, are the leagues that i think would have much trouble with the teams in the top 25 in D-II's rankings, or at least the top 10.El-Moldo wrote:The only so-called I-AA teams that would consistantly struggle against DII teams would be those in the NEC. Oh yeah i forgot, IUP put almost 50 up on Duquesne this year when the Dukes only scored 10 or so. Just a thought it was a scrimmage but was a game none the less. And taking a PAT league school are you serious? CalU of PA has over 15 D1A transfers on there team, they would crush lehigh, Laffeyete, Bucknell, Martist, Georgetown shall i continue
