1 loss resumes

Post by abpk2903 »

Lets take a look at the one loss team to this point and build a case for who deserves to be 2 in the BCS. This is just stating facts and each can build their own opinion.

Texas:
Beat:
#3 Oklahoma by 10 (neutral)
#13 Missouri by 25 (home)
#12 Oklahoma State by 4 (home)

Lost:
#7 Texas Tech by 6 (road)

Oklahoma

Beat:
#7 Texas Tech by 34 (home)
#14 TCU by 25 (home)
#16 Cincinatti by 26 (home)

Lost:
#2 Texas by 10 (neutral)

Flordia

Beat:
#11 Georgia by 39 points (away)

Lost:
#25 Ole Miss by 1 point (home)

USC

Beat:
#10 Ohio State by 32 (home)
#23 Oregon by 34 points (home)

Lost:
#17 Oregon State by 6 points (away)

Texas Tech

Beat:
#2 Texas by 6 points (home)
#12 Oklahoma St by 36 points (home)

Lost:
#4 Oklahoma by 44 points (road)

Penn State

Beat:
#17 Oregon State by 31 (home)
#10 Ohio State by 7 (road)
#19 Michigan State by 31 (home)

Lost:
Iowa by 1 (road)

IMO, Boise St, Utah, and Ball State havent played a grueling enough schedule for consideration at National Championship game

Based on these stats and these stats alone this would be the my rankings:
1. 'Bama
2. Oklahoma (non-conference wins is the difference IMO)
3. Texas
4. Penn State
5. Texas Tech
6. USC
7. Flordia (can move to 4 with win over FSU and Bama but to this point has beat 1 top 25 team)

big games remaining that will change these resumes:
Bama/Auburn (rivalry anything can happen)
FSU/Flordia (rivalry again)
Flordia/'Bama
OKla/OK St
Big 12 championship
USC/ND
USC/UCLA

abpk, is a non-conference schedule more important than head to head? I am just asking. By the way, Texas beat Arkansas, who beat last year's National Champion, today. You seem to have the same feelings as most people that have an actual vote in the BCS. I don't disagree with Oklahoma being in the National Championship over Texas, but 45-35 will always stick in my head.

To anyone on this site, what would you think if this was the scenario?

Given Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan were all on the same level on any given season and this is what happened:

Penn State beats Ohio State on a neutral field by 10.
Michigan is at home and beats Penn State by 6 while scoring with 1 second to go.
Ohio State is at home and beats Michigan by 44 at home.

Would you feel Ohio State is more deserving than Penn State or do you think PSU should make the National Championship?

IMO, those three teams beating each other once cancels each other out. I know it was a 10 point game but the RRSO could have went either way. TT/Texas could have went either way. IMO, you have to look outside of those three games then to decide which of the three teams is better. OU played TCU and Cincy, whereas Texas played Missouri, TT played absolutely nobody. In my honest opinion these neither of these two teams would beat Flordia, USC, or Penn State. Those teams are just more complete teams in all three phases of the game. I know that will get you fired up deliverence but that is how I feel. You cant lost a game by 40+ pts and be considered one of the better teams in the nation so that removes TT from title consideration.
