Early in the Morning

Post by vman »

& I couldn't sleep right; no it wasn't A Harry Nilsson tune in my head! Woke up, in my red SC T Shirt & Cardinal plumed helmet with vague memories of this perfect dream I had..... wherein UPS plays like a JV squad in first half & USC thrashes them in route to a 31 -7 halftime lead! WHAT, that's what really happened Vman......the 2 bottles of wine sipped with that roast pork & sauerkraut did not play tricks on your mind.....my bad!!

I have to give you credit. You have a lot of nerve. If I was a fan of a team(**itt) that was shut out by a team(Oregon St) that was run over by a team(PSU) that you continue to call UPS and rip. I would run for cover and hide under the nearest rock, but you continue to rip Penn State even after they lose to a team that is a better team than the one you root for AMAZING!!

Didn't Pitt beat Iowa and Iowa beat Penn State? I guess you could easily look at that two ways. We could always settle it on the field, but that wouldn't make sense. JoePa doesn't even touch the sidelines anymore. What a joke.

I think the reason you see psu getting ripped by everyone is because of their fans dilusional thoughts that they actually were a national championship team even after IOWA beat them. No matter what happens, psu fans believe joepa and the nitters are a national championship team and havent realized how far behind they are to, lets say, USC.

Pitt fans on the other hand are realists and understand that Pitt is nowhere near the caliber teams as Florida, USC and Okla. Pitt fans are not dilusional.

So when psu gets bullied by a really good team, one would hope it would open some eyes in nitter nation.

After last nights fiasco, I hope that the nitter nation realizes they are not as good as they believed or hoped they were. But they did have a fine season in the big 11.....I will give them credit for that.

Now lets hear about how bad psu beat oregon state and how oregon state beat Pitt. But just dont forget Pitt beat IOWA!

If PSU's problem is thinking we are better than we actually are, guilty as charged at times. However, the biggest problem with Pitt is they are 5 times more concerned with Penn State than they are their own program. Penn State fans we worry how we are stacking up against the USC, Flordia, Oklahoma's of the football world whereas Pitt worries about how they stack up against one program Penn State. We realize we are way behind but at least that is where we are striving to get to. It has always seemed to me that Pitt could win 5 games but it would be a good football season for them if PSU wins 7. Pitt fans are so quick to jump on here and rub a 38-24 loss (to probably one of the best three best programs in the nation) in PSU's face but do not want to accept the fact that this was suppose to be Pitt's year to win the Big East and they ended with a 3-0 loss to an Oregon State in the efing Sun Bowl. Just look at the end of Shocker's post he doesnt give a rat's a$$ they just got embarressed in the Sun Bowl he is proud of a victory over Iowa a team that Penn State didnt beat. Pitt fans poke fun all the time of the Big 10 but honestly ask yourself if invited to the conference tomorrow where would you rather be?

Penn State was projected to finished anywhere from fifth to seventh in the Big Ten in the majority of preseason polls. They were ripped apart by the national media for behavior of their players (some say it was justified some say it was not). Injuries lead "Linebacker U" into playing a walk-on from Penns Valley as their starting middle linebacker. Their coach went all season unable to walk in need of a hip replacement and in the last year of his contract. Penn State still managed a 11-2 record and a Rose Bowl loss and Penn State fans are still relatively unpleased.

actually, it's not...you see Pitt's Defense played a phenomenal game & Panthers had a chance to tie up to the last few seconds. And if you remember, the UPS/USC contest was over @ halftime as your db's w/ snowshoes got a clinic on the forward pass in first half (31-7). And as noted, Pete C. feeling sorry for your mummified coach took foot off accelerator in 2nd half!!

Barring an upset in the Utah and Alabama game, each team finished the year with at least one loss. We can start weighing the losses. I'd say Iowa finished the year pretty strong. I saw Bowling Green fired their head coach, how'd BG's season play out?

Saying Pitt played a great defensive game is another way of saying Oregon State has a dangerous offense. I seem to recall an Oregon State squad that was scrutinized pretty good by this website.

Vman, do you still have your sit-and-spin from when you were a kid?
