After watching the Shade - Shanksville game tonight, my pick so far this early season has got to be Kaminsky hands down.

I saw Holby from Blacklick Valley for the second time this season. I would have to say he is arguably the best player I have watched in the WestPAC and I saw Shade two times. He had 32 points and at least 8 or 9 assists against Windber. He defends, rebounds, finds the open man and shows great leadership on the floor. Now I am not taking anything away from Kaminsky, Zellum or anybody else in the league. I have yet to see Conemaugh Valley and it appears they have some solid players.

Looks like there is a 'push' to get this player's name out... (See editorial in Tribune Democrat 1/17). Please do not take this negatively toward this player...call it an observation.
This does not mean that I am questioning your post, could be coincidental timing.
Judging performance against Windber really isn't an indicator for me. (Windber's got a strangle-hold on last place in the WP-north and I don't see them moving much from there.) Post again after BV's matchup with NS, CT, and Shade and I'll see if I'm available to get on board with your position.

Lost me on the editorial, did not see that. The other time I watched Holby was against Shade and he scored 16 in the first half. He was limited in the second half but Shade denied and double teamed him in the second half. Against Township he scored 27 points, I was not at the game but got the totals off maxpreps. Also a lot of this is being ased on scoring I will see if I can come up with a stats comparison if both teams submit to maxpreps. Again I watched Kaminsky and Zellum and think they are completely worthy of the Best Player in the WestPAC title. I have to give Petrilla some credit too, he poured in 30 without his sidekick Zellum in the line up.

I just read the editorial and the writer, Jay Evans, was a succesful basketball coach at Blacklick in the 80s and 90s. Following some research he actually helped lead Blacklick to three district 6A championships.

He also once challenged the Cambria Heights student section to a fight. Good times.Prince Sidewinder wrote:I just read the editorial and the writer, Jay Evans, was a succesful basketball coach at Blacklick in the 80s and 90s. Even though I understand it to be a PIAA mandate, North Star doesn't share their stats on maxpreps, but both Shade and CT do.

Hey Prince have to say Holby is a nice ballplayer, but force him to go with his left and he struggles.
