There's no doubt that Bedford can make a run at a state title. They did it last year and are even better this year. Does anyone have the rankings of the top 5 teams in the state?

1. Bedford
2. Reynolds
3. Westmont
4. Shady Side
5. Bermudian Springs

Rumor has it that Reynolds, Westmont and Shady Side will all be in the top half of the bracket if the win their respective Districts. So Bedford could have the better half.

I thought going in it would be very tight, but Bedford controled things from the start.

Key matches=

135- was a tight match Cook Bed won with an overtime takedown.
145- Gibbons won by 1 or 2 points. But he really seemed to control the match to me.
171- Westmont freshman beat Brett. Brett seemed out of gas and injured. Could cost Bedford down the road if he can't get healthy.
285- WOW. Krupa looks like a beast. Tossed a 16-3 280 pound Westmont HWT. around like a rag doll. One throw looked like it was straight from the WWE.
112- Easter BED. got a 4-2 win over Hough?? 2 stalling points for Easter

Bedford was def. more aggressive tonight. Bedford kids that were outmatched wrestled hard and didn't get pinned. Westy kids that were outmatched seemed to get pinned. Except for the one that was in deep trouble twice and took injury time both times.
Westmont didn't wrestle well at all tonight, and i will give A LOT of credit to the Bedford team for what they did to the Hilltoppers, but i have to say that the officiating was terrible. The 3 stalling calls on Hough within 45 seconds of each other were questionable, Shippy crawling of the mat to get away from Bennet did not get any Stallings, Fleeing the Mat calls, or even a warning. As for the kid who gave up the tech fall, i believe he was the one who missed some matches for a shoulder injury, and he looked good in the first, just when Gould got on top and worked moves against his shoulder did he seem to get in deep trouble.

I like to give credit where credit is due, and what Krupa did to Duplin seemed inhuman, he is one of the few heavyweights who can toss the others around like its nothing. Also for Gibbons to come out and wrestle against Dumire the way he did deserves notice. Also now that Bedford's biggest opponet until states is taken care of, i think P.J Brett should take some time off, save the elbow for when the team really needs him, and work on his endurance, if he does that he should be in much better condition by the time team states rolls around.

On a final note, I wish both these teams great luck in the future, and hope to see them both do well at the Giant Center.

Usually the third ranked team in the state doesn't get completely dominated by the team ranked first in the state. Maybe Bedford is that good. I would be glad to see that a District 5 team is that good. It did not seem that Westmont wrestled fundamentally sound. That's all.
I know. While the spread was greater than anybody thought it would be, they are two of the top teams in the state.

The Hough stalling calls were very questionable. Krupa is ridiculous - after watching Duplin in six matches this year I'd never guess anyone could toss him around like that. I think the Bruce, Dumire and Hough losses were key. Good luck to both from here on.

WOW. Bedford is the REAL DEAL!!!! Westmont got a big dose of where they got to be if they want to make a run for a state title. It seemed to me last night that the Westmont wrestlers wrestled tight. Especially, in some of the bigger matches.

If you are going to work a collar tie you better get some inside control and not let your opponent get deep underhooks on you. Get the inside control work your snap downs and mug your opponents head.

I didn't much from the Westmont wrestlers on their feet. No elevations changes on your feet. No good shots through their opponents. Alot of low leg shots with no finishes.

On the bottom, a good first move it NOT posting on your hands and knees. Serious wrestling off the bottom. Work a stand-up, a sit-out turn-in, to a switch, to a peterson, then repeat. DO NOT LAY THERE and get your head worked over.

I love my Hilltoppers, but tonight guys more of you needed to bring your "A" game.

I think TJ, Ryan, Zac, Trevor turned in great performance. TJ my hat is off to you, brother. A real Gutsy performance.

Josh good match. Tanner H. keep your focus and learn from this. You will get him again.

Guy, all of you learn from this match, work hard in the mat room and redeem yourselves in the weeks ahead.

Bedford great job! Hopefully, we will get to do this again real soon.

I don't know much about Westmont, only what I've heard, but I expected a much closer outcome than what the final score was. It just seemed to me the Bedford kids were way more aggressive, and dominated the pace in most matches. I will say that a couple of those Westmont kids were excellent off bottom which is something I enjoy seeing at this level. Conversely, I don't think most of them (except that Bennett kid) were that good on their feet, and that is where Bedford had the edge.

One thing of note, I've never been to a match with so many injury timeouts in my life. It seemed every match had a bloody nose, or shoulder injury. On that note, I give the Westmont fans credit---they were very classy when a Bedford kid went down (used to hearing the chorus of boo's and he's faking called out).

Now our little guys need to take it to Westmonts elementary program this weekend at the youth tournament!!!

How bad is Shippy's injury? Will he be able to go this weekend or next?

I read that he'll be ok. I guess it looked and sounded worse than it was.
