Re: District Duals
Papa, I'm not going to rip on you too much. You should never understimate a Dave Marko coached team. Westmont was overrated with the #3 spot in the state earlier in the season. That doesn't mean they still aren't a very good team. They got a tough match-up to start off with. As long as they stayed healthy, that can only be a good thing. I still like their chances of winning D6, but after that, they could be in some trouble.
Re: District Duals
"without much fan support" - I thought the C-K fans were very loud when their kids won and they had good numbers considering the lengthy trip in deteriorating weather conditions. I've seen teams come from much less distance with less fans.
"almost pulled off the biggest upset in the district" - There is a difference between almost pulling off the upset and keeping it close. I thought C-K did a great job of wrestling hard, winning matches I did not think they would win, and keeping the match close. To pull off the upset, they would have had to win three more matches. Which ones do you think they could have won?
It truly was a great match and the 15-0 score was just as shocking to me, too. A fantastic start by C-K, responded to by the big guns of T.J., Zac and company.
It sounds like a nice collection was taken up for Caleb Snyder (extra kudos to the Westy cheerleaders) after a respectful moment of silence.

Westmont good job last night. Pat D. way to get things going you gave the rest of the team the kick in the butt they needed. To everyone else way to keep the ball rolling.
Papa H. I agree have to with you, even though it was a nice win they got to get it together if they want to go deep into these duals.
These are just my opinions on what I saw last night.
Gentlemen, in some of the matches that went the distance or close to the distance there were to many points given up at the end of periods (takedowns, reversals, near falls points) Like I have said before 'Mat Presents" know where you are at in the match.
To much wrestling from behinds your opponents hips when on top. Get out to the sides and work under the arms. Cradles are great, but sometimes you got to take what the bottom man is giving you. Create pressure on your opponent's neck and shoulders. Spiral half always was a great way to beat your opponent down and make feel like he doesn't want to be there. Work the neck hard and he shall turn.
On the bottom, you guys have to get better in my opinion at exploding off the bottom. To many guys are letting the top man get the jump on you. And you are taking more punishment than you need too.
On your feet, you guys wrestled well. I notice a lot of you were working more for inside control on your ties. Still, would like to see more elevation changes and shots from a closer distances. A lot of you are diving at your opponents legs for those low leg single without a finish and getting your heads beaten on or getting a stalemate call.
Big improvement from last Tuesday. I still think you guys can raise the D6 Title trophy. Keep up the hard work. Practice hard until you got nothing left in the tank. It will make the dual meets that much sweeter.
Good luck fellas! See you in Tyrone.

Papa Het wrote:Now before i am ridiculed for my previous posts, i would like to say Great Match to Claysburg. They had a long trip to get to Westmont to wrestle their match without much fan support, and they almost pulled off the biggest upset in the district. Great match, a lot of pins, and I have to say i was shocked when Westmont was down 15-0, until there were 8 straight pins spanning from 145-103 and westy took the lead 36-21 at the end of that hot streak. I have to say great dual meet season to C-K, i believed that they showed that they can wrestle with anyone in the state, and to Westmont, get it together! you got lucky against C-K, i doubt Huntingdon would give up that many bonus points to anyone.
Almost pulled off an upset? Westmont took the lead three matches later, after the 0-15 start, and never looked back. Westmont could have forfeited the last three matches to win 40-39.
Westmont did what it had to in order to win. They'll need more heart and match awareness to win D6. Giving up take downs and near fall points in the last 2-5 seconds of a period will drown their chances. I believe it happened in 3 or 4 matches last night.
Good luck Westmont!!
Re: District Duals
I'm not sure what I was thinking with my previous post about Huntingdon/PC. lol
Any predictions for next round? Huntingdon vs. Westmont and MU/PC vs. Forest Hills right?

Re: District Duals
Does the D5 Winner match up against the D6 Runner-up? And then the winner of that match along with the D6 Winner move on to Hershey? Do I have that correct?

Re: District Duals
jakesdogs
that would be correct 6-2 vs 5-1 February 3rd 7 PM at a location to be determined
The Winner of that matchup will face the District 11 champion on Friday February 6th at The Giant Center at 8 AM
District 6 Champion Would Face The Winner between the runnerups of district 4 and 11
