In a little defense of the T-D, they attempt to cover FAR more schools than the papers you compared them with...

Agreed that the Mirror does a good job. But comparing the Bedford and Somerset papers to the T-D in TOTAL HS sports coverage?

Do you really think a couple of unhappy emails are really going to change anything? The Tribune Democrat is below average in sports coverage, and always will be. I understand what you're trying to do here Emanon, but I really dont think you're going to get anything out of it. If they laid off people, they did it for a reason, and I highly doubt anything we say will change their mind. The only way they are going to change anything is if the majority of TD subscribers cancel their subscription, and/or write emails. Note majority. I doubt half the people who read the news even care about local sports. Dont start a war that you arent going to win.

Stick to the topic at hand and if not I suggest a Moderator create a new topic for this, because this is going to get out of hand.

Just get tired of uninformed folks commenting on the perceived lack of coverage by newspapers, and making inaccurate statements. How can anyone seriously compare the Daily-American and Gazette to the T-D in anything... given the size of coverage areas.? Geeze.

The problem has always been bias at the Tribune Democrat when it comes to sports reporting. You need to have some sort of political connection or personal relationship to receive good coverage, regardless of the talent level or success of your high school team. Isenberg is probably the worst for this, but now that you have only westpac connected sports reporters remaining, there's no question where the bias lies. Just look at what they did with the all area football team with all the westpac players and westpac COY. It was a total joke.

I feel real bad for kids who work so hard and do their best on the hardwood only to be ignored (unless they attend one of the politically favored schools) by their hometown newspaper. Why no coverage for Shade boys? They are westpac and they are TOUGH.

Compare Tribune Democrat coverage of high school basketball with the Altoona Mirror if you want to get sick. The Mirror covers all teams in Blair and Bedford Counties as well as portions of Cambria, Huntingdon and Clearfield. Even extend into Centre County once in awhile. They do a fantastic job because apparently they care about their hometown and central PA. Maybe the best thing for the Tribune would be to shut its doors and put itself up for sale. Maybe the Mirror could buy them.
