First, I have to point out that Santonio is from THE Ohio State University. He is a great player. He is not an outstanding citizen and wasn't when he was at OSU. However, the Super Bowl is about winning and football. It is not about character. I would not want my kids to be like him; I would point them towards AJ Hawk, Marcus Freeman, or other Buckeyes who are great human beings. Having said that, there is nothing wrong with them parading them around after winning the Super Bowl. To think otherwise is just ridiculous.

The bible not good enough for you? Apparently not. I love how the christian school kid is publicly judging people because of mistakes in the past. I believe it says something in that "grown up book" where you shouldn't do that. And a christian school kid can't keep one of the simple things straight.

Hilarious.

We've had (some) good local examples, i.e.: Pete Duranko, Jack Ham, Artrell Hawkins...speaks highly of BMHS!

Oh, yeah. Let's talk about someone like Curtis Martin from Pittsburgh and the Jets.

here's the thing...professional athletes are not allowed to be human. they have to to be saints, and even then there are idiots out there that are going to tear them down. i'm sure you (and by you i mean anyone reading this) are not perfect, and i'm sure you've done things in your past that you feel bad about/are possibly illegal. i know i have, but here's the thing, i'm human. yes, we put these players up on a pedestal but it's for their performance on the playing field. what they do off the field i feel should be none of our business.

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.

count, I have to disagree to an extent. If you or I get caught with drugs, my name or your name is placed in the paper. Are you saying if an athlete gets caught with marijuana that it shouldn't be in the paper? These are professional athletes that kids look up to and when they do something wrong I don't see a problem with it being shown everywhere because when they do something great it's shown everywhere. If you're a professional athlete, why risk getting caught with drugs? Why drive when you're drunk? You make millions of dollars. Call a taxi. I just don't understand people like Pacman Jones. You are rich. You are an incredible athlete. Why throw it away over stupid things?

their name should be in the police report of their local newspaper just like the rest of us...

i read a headline the other day "Teacher gets caught with 3 pounds of marijuana"... it wasn't even in this area. if a plumber, truck driver, or fry cook at mcdonalds got caught with 3 pounds of marijuana, would you see that anywhere other than the police report of the local newspaper???? nope. i don't see why athletes are held to a higher standard than everyone else.

at the same time, i can't stand athletes committing crimes and getting off easy because they are a professional athlete. they're human, just like everyone else.
