Heights over CC

Post by Footballfan4 »

Cambria Heights defeated Central Cambria Tonight and basically locked up the section 1. looks to be as if they will see McCort in the LHAC championship. Heights are now 17-1. what are you guys' thoughts on the Highlanders?

Well, that's the first time I've ever seen a triangle-and-2 played on one guy, but I guess you can do it when you have a 6-8 kid in the middle. Fees and the point guard did a nice job on Miller. I'd guess that was a season low output. Vescovi must have had 12 blocks and the lefty lit it up from 3-point land. Congrats to Heights (although I think CC has a good chance of beating them in Ebensburg). Section 2 is not McCort for sure, right? There's still a lot of inter-section games there I think.

How about some love for the Heights coaching staff? There was a lot of chatter on here during the offseason about whether the coaching was up to the level of talent Heights has. To be 17-1 at this point and win their section without a true point guard is an achievement no matter what happens the rest of the way. In the last week, they've beaten McCort without their best scorer and held Miller to 15 points without their best defender. So far, those three guys have done a nice job of capitalizing on their team's strengths and minimizing their weaknesses.

CC wins the rematch handily. Jordan Miller passes Randy McKavish to become the school's all-time leading scorer.

Re: CC win Monday
You could see that coming a mile away. Despite records, two teams are pretty close in overall talent. Because of injuries, Heights has been running a six-man rotation and was facing third game in four days. Good job by Traino to force uptempo. And, of course, it's highly unlikely a team can hold Miller down in back-to-back games. Good win for CC and probably not a bad time for Heights to lose a game. Will CC enter the playoffs sub .500 or do they have a rule there? Anyone know?

Heights=Great season, but one trick pony. Back to the bottom next year.

CC=With a player of Miller's caliber, they should enter playoffs. District may have policy that requires .500+ record though.

Titan,
Vescovi is a junior so it won't be back to the bottom although they will need to see a lot of underclassmen improve to be a league and district contender again.

I'm actually surprised Heights lost because CC isn't very good this year and their only good player is Miller but I guess anything can happen

Good coaching won the game for CC. they practiced on sunday before they played again on monday and they went into the game knowing how to beat the triangle and 2. As for the heights back to the bottom..not so fast, they return 3 kids that played in every quarter and one of them is 6'8 and a few athletes for the sophomore class could really help, lets just focus on this season.

CC didn't practice on Sunday. They only lost to CH by ten at their place Sat. and had it to 5 at one point in the middle of the 4th. CC won that game by tireing out the CH players. While the zone press was not very affective early it forced Heights to run the floor rather than walk it up like they wanted to. The two teams traded baskets for awhile until Heights lost their legs. CC pushed when had the opportunity and late in each half beat CH up the floor more than once. Miller shotting better, plus the pace of the game became the difference. Also CC had three players in double figures Monday night instead of relying on Miller to drop 40+ night in and night out.
