"new" Big East....when Pitt won the big east there was boston college and Temple and not USF,Louisville, and Cinci.....So therefore when the new Big east was formed a year later...WVU beat UGA. Louisville beat Wake. WVu destroyed OU then Cinci lost to Va Tech....In my estimations thats 3-1.

Vman, who's your pick to win the BE this year? How about South Florida?

Oh, you wee talking FB!! Boi, someone luvs to rip on those Bulls!!! Let's put this into perspective once & for all...w/ some facts (he has trouble dealing w/ those). USF began FB in 1997, they moved up to DI in 2001.....In their first 3 yrs., '01 thru '03, their records were as follows; 8-3, 9-2 & 7-4; not too shabby for a fledgling program. UPS in that same time frame posted records of 5-6, 9-4 & 3-9??? Joepa was in his 66th thru 68th seasons coaching @ that point.... yet the Bulls put up more W's & you still criticize them????

Re: Let's Fix the Big East.
Would you like me to post the USF records again and then hold them in relation to the hype they received? Keep in mind this program is supposedly the savior of the Big East.

Re: Let's Fix the Big East.
My views on this would never happen, but this is what I would like to see. Penn State should drop its ridiculous affiliation with the B10 and join the BE. It would renew old rivalries with Pitt and WVU and give the conference more credibility nationwide. Their basketball team would be over their head, but it's not like that is a priority for them. Plus, it would stop those constant trips to the midwest for all of their athletic teams.
Boston College made a big mistake joining the ACC. Talk about having their athletic teams making ridiculous road trips! BC was a good fit for the BE. I really miss seeing them in both football and basketball. I just can't get into a BC/"fill in an ACC school here" matchup. It just doesn't seem right seeing them in the ACC.
Notre Dame of course is in the BE for basketball, but they would never join for football. Therefore, I think ND should not in the BE for anything. The BE will also need to drop DePaul from basketball. The number of schools they have are already maxed out, so they need to drop 2 schools to make up for adding PSU and BC. Both of those schools would be free to join the B10 to give them their 12 schools.
The other 2 schools would have to come from schools who are already members of the Big East for basketball. Any 2 schools who will make a commitment to football will do. I don't see any reason why Villanova could not field a top football team. They have a great location near Philly. They could hit up PA and NJ and probably get a lot of takers.

Re: Let's Fix the Big East.
Villanova's football stadium holds only about 12,000. They would have to make some arrangements to play their home games elsewhere. I think the Big East has a minimum requirement for the seating capacity of their home fields. By the way, did you know that their field is on route 30? If you leave Jennerstown and head east on 30, you will eventually pass Villanova's stadium on the left.
