UPJ beats Salem 132-51
What are your thoughts on this? The Lady Cats, under the guidance of Sasha Palmer, pound a terrible Salem International squad by 81, 132-51, setting a new team record for points in a game. And to add insult to injury, the Tribune-Democrat highlights Lindsay Cale's single-game scoring record of 44 points...what an accomplishment! Salem is a bad high school team.
Are you kidding me? Salem is now 0-26 this season. UPJ was up 61-29 at the half and still dropped 71 more on the Lady Tigers....UPJ shot 99 times last night!
This would never have happened under Coach Jodi Gault's reign...never. Denise Gallo and Jen Tuscano both had 42 in a game...I'm sure it was well deserved.

Yeah, Go lady Cats...
Ask Palmer how much she liked Shaler Area HS Grad Melissa McQuade (KutztownU) dropping 30pts and 14reb on them earlier this season. Wonder if Coach Palmer enjoyed that beatdown???

As a former UPJ Lady Cat Alum, I am terribly disgusted with how OUR program is going. I say OUR because once you are a Lady Cat you are always a Lady Cat. I was not at the game last night but it is sad when I hear from 2 different people last night about this. I was told that SI only had 5 players and that UPJ pressed the entire time. Not sure whether or not that is true - just what I heard. I've always been Lady Cat proud but now I am disappointed in the direction OUR program is going. There should be a certain type of person leading this program and she is not the one. I've watched several practices since she started and it took all of 5 minutes of the first one I saw to know she is not what should be representing OUR program. Less than 2 years at the helm and OUR program is in disarray. I wouldn't have wanted to fill Jodi's shoes but Jodi and Deb busted their butts for years and their hard work and dedication to OUR program should be embraced and not trampled on by someone whose overconfidence in themself is hurting OUR program. The whole situation is disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, the box score in todays trib indicates that eight players played and scored for UPJ. We also have to remember that this is not HS ball...... there is a shot clock involved here and with only 8 players, going to the bench is not really an option. If in fact they were pressing the entire game I would certainly question that.
Aren't sports funny.....if you lose you're chatised almost all of the time but even when you win you're chastised part of the time.
BTW....please don't make Jodi out to be some sort of saint when it came to kicken the crap out of someone. Jodi Gault is as competetive as they come and she had her share of blowout wins over the years. She also had her share of people that did not like her style either. At least now I believe that the athletic department at UPJ is headed in the right direction...trouble for all of us that would have liked to have seen Jodi and Deb stick around is it's too little too late.

The athletic dept. at UPJ is definitely not headed in the right direction with this one. You apparently are looking at box scores and not knowing the ugly details of a lot of things going on there if that is how you feel.

Reflexin,
You and all Lady Cat alumni should take offense to this. YOUR program was based on commitment, hard work, pride, and integrity. That is no longer the case. The reputation of Lady Cat basketball is taking an ugly hit. It won't be too long before Salem International and others who are now down, institute payback on UPJ. There is one thing for sure in the sport of basketball...what comes around goes around. And it is not from what you and your teammates did...it is from the new regime on the hill.

Reflexin,
I think you misunderstood my comments. What I am trying to say is that the fact that the former AD is no longer there and the new Assistant Athletic director has local ties and has the best interest of the UPJ athletes at heart is a step in the right direction for the athletic programs. I feel sure that they will evaluate the situation and take appropriate steps to rectify any problems that exist.
My comment regarding box scores was merely to indicate that UPJ played all of its players and they all scored so it wasn't as if only the starting five got PT. I am not sure what one would do in such a situation...would you just work the ball around for 30 seconds and not take a shot? I can tell you that if I was playing and losing like that and you were doing that to me, that would embarrass me worse than getting trounced...but that's just me. As I also said, if they were pressing and playing man defense the entire time, i am not in agreement with that.
I personally would love to see Jodi and Deb come back.......but I am afraid that ship has sailed.

Stila.... Sorry. I did misunderstood and you had me a little worried there. Nowing your thoughts on things, I was pretty suprised. I wish the UPJ admin. will step up and do something soon before the program goes down the tubes. And I'm not talking about the wins/losses. It's everything else I'm hearing that disgusts me.
Re: UPJ beats Salem 132-51
Congratulations to UPJ on a great win. Sasha is doing an excellent job with this program. What a lot of people do not understand is that coaches (good coaches) are constantly teaching their players to play at a certain level all of the time regardless of whether you play against the best team in the nation or the worst team in the nation. Obviously your goal is to ultimately win the game, but you do not focus all of your attention to the score of the game, but rather to the effort level of your team. And if you end up defeating a team by a significant margin then sobeit.
