WHY HATE BEDFORD?

Well I think most fans are ok routing for their favorites, as long as we realize these are basically kids and don't boo.

I don't think anyone "hates" Bedford. Alot of the fans (adult fans) have forgotten that it is all about the kids.

If you would sit in our section one time especially at Districts this year you would definately feel the hate. I think it is ridiculous, especially for the main reason that you don't know how much the wrestlers from each school hang out and get along great, I don't know why the adults can't be as MATURE as the wrestlers. BTW Good Luck to all the county wrestlers and hope to see many move on to states!!

I was not going to reply to this post until stylegal last post. First do not group all adults as immature there are some of us that like a good match no matter who is wrestling. Also there are quite a few werstlers that are not mature, signs of this are throwing your headgear after a match, bearly shaking hands, leaving the gym and not coming back to shake hands at the end of a match. I've seen many of these actions by wrestlers who were suppose to be mature. As for the "hate", that is something that has come down through the years. CR, BED, NBC all have great traditions and bring out the best and sometimes the worst in some fans. The players of today that become the fans of tomorrow are who should make the change and not be drawn into the actions of adults of the past. You are allways going to have the ones that HATE to lose to BED, CR, NBC, that was quite evident at Districts and will always be. There are some people who may need to grow some thicker skin and move on. The next day I doubt many remembered what all exactly went on, only a few needed to be more mature & a few needed to let it go. If I have offended anyone by these comments I apologize it was not meant that way. Most fans enjoyed a great night of wrestling and should the next two weekends also. Good luck to all D5 wrestlers.

I think it all comes down to that it's a fact of life. A few "for instances" Nascar...you love your fav driver, you hate his competition NFL...you love your fav team, you hate the rest of the division or league The same can be said for every sport that has a following of any kind. You can't expect high school wrestling to be any different. Go to any other high school sporting event, football, basketball, baseball etc. they're no different. Do you cheer for the opposing team in the district 5 football championship game when they score a touchdown on your team? Do you cheer when the opposing team hits a home run in the bottom of the 9th inning to win the district 5 championship game? Both cases the answer is NO. It's a competition with a winner and a loser. Everyone hates a winner. No one wants to be the loser. All that being said should lead you to the reason why people hate Bedford. That doesn't mean people don't respect what Bedford does. It just means that maybe next year you can hate US......

The wrestlers getting along and acting mature? Last year Gary Phaler broke a wrestler from another school's jaw, i dont think that is the MATURE thing to do

I am pretty sure it was another wrestler on the ridge team whose jaw he broke. And I think Gary just enjoys fighting.

Stylegal, you should just read and never post on here again, truely.
Gary is serving our country now in the Marines, and no one will argue when I say he has the mentality for it, it doesn't matter what happened last year, two years ago, Gary's talents are being used in a positive way now. This is why we hate Bedford, not why we want to talk crap on Gary and all them.

X-Man, Gary's name was in the paper for something not so good the other day. I didn't want to bring it up here because this isn't the place. Maybe I'll PM southy and he'll know what went on.

I know what went on with all of that for sure. It has nothing to do with the Wrestling tag. If there was a tag... Board Index < District 5/6 Sports < Lowlifes it would be under that. Gary put himself in a bad position and then got put in a horrible position, and got ganged up on.
