That's a good call. There's nothing safe about a horse-collar tackle.

There is a chance for this call to get out of hand tho. I mean there are so many tackles that look like a horse collar tackle that really arn't and there are going to be a lot of bad calls over this. It could possibly get out of hand.

Not only have I seen many injuries from this, I'd also say it's the most painful way to go down. It twists your body in a way it's not meant to be twisted, almost hyperextending your back to a certain degree. If you're saying you've never seen an injury from this tackle on any level, you obviouslly don't watch the NFL because Roy Williams broke T.O.'s leg on a wicked one.

I have seen high school kids put out for the season due to horse collar tackles.....My son missed his whole senior year of sports due to a stupid, intentional, pull down from behind tackle and if the officials get out of control calling this then "Yea" for them.....a few years too late to help my son!!!! Make the call ....Someone is finally using their heads by banning it!! Officials could not call it enough to please me!!! If a player does use it then they should be severely penallized! No one should have to tackle like that...it is used only to try and hurt kids...You and I both know it!NotreDame7 wrote:How many sever injuries have even occured from the horse collar tackle?? i never hear of any!!!

Unless of course you are chasing down somebody from behind and jump and grab the back of their shoulder pads just to stop them from scoring a touchdown in open field. Ill take a 15 yarder instead of a 6 on the board anytime. Besides that yeah it should be illegal.
Safety first.

all im saying is that this might get taken out of proportion by the refs and anytime they see shoulder pads getting yanked at all they will be quick to throw the flag. im not saying this rule shouldn't have been put in place.
