PIAA basketball playoff atmosphere...
I had the privilege to catch some of the action at Richland HS this evening and then over to UPJ to catch some of the playoff action there and I simply have to state what a great atmosphere to watch HS basketball.
As I looked at both sides of the full SportsCenter at UPJ, it was refreshing to see parents, relatives, and friends supporting their favorite HS heroes. That is what it is all about. To celebrate along with these fine student/athletes as they perform at their best in front of big crowds...Each team hoping for one more game in the state playoff run.
One can only image the hours and hours of practice and summer league games; drills and time in the weight room; travel to camps and even just shooting hoops in the driveway.
If you haven't yet made it out to support one of the local teams, shame on you. Our young people are out there making memories they will remember for the rest of their lives. And you have a chance to be a part of that.
Pay the money to see 2 or maybe 3 games and just take in the emotions and thrill of HS basketball. This time of year, it is something to behold.
