According to this brilliant theory, Tulsa football had a better season than Penn State because they played in the GMAC Bowl 5 days after Penn State lost in the Rose Bowl.

What will the students chant tonight?

"We're #66" or "We're #67"

They can't be #66 can they? They weren't in the top 65 in the country. Then they were only a #2 seed in the NIT, so that there were at least 4 teams better than them that were #1 seeds. And they actually could have been the LAST #2 seed picked, so add 4 + 3 to the 65 and you get 72. We're 72, we're 72!!!!!

It depends which tournament you rank higher, the College Basketball Invitational or the NIT.

If you rank the CBI higher, then the best PSU could do is #82. I tend to rate the NIT higher so I will call them #66 if they win.
