A student can transfer from public to public while still living in the first school district.. YES. But that student will also pay tuition to that school, and taxes to it's home school district and maybe even the transfer district. Also theres no "Financial Aid" you're going to receive once you transfer no matter how fast your 40 time is. The bottom line is some schools have rules that cripple their athletics while a small amount don't have these rules just because they associate themselves with a church or something else. McCort people will talk about freedom of choice, I'd like to see a kid from Johnstown who's good at a sport transfer to Richland because of all of the great facilities, schools, etc they have now.. I doubt the vote for that by district 6 would be '16-0'. So a kid can have freedom of choice, as long as that choice is a private. What if I don't like my home district, I don't have the finances to move, and I'm not Catholic and am not about to go to a school that preaches a religion other than mine? Where's my freedom of choice? I'd be SOL

Let's sum up the winter sports for small schools. Boys and girls A and AA basketball 100% private champions.Boys AA wrestling dual and team champions same school I believe, yeah you guessed it private.Pretty much the group that has less than 10 percent of the total schools wins all the titles.JUST THE FACTS!!!!!

oldguy,

Looks like we have to work harder, not make excuses for our failure to compete or point a jealous finger at someone who has achieved what we have not. When I attended public high school oldguy, we didn't even know the Catholic schools existed. They were a non factor in high school sports. But they still drew from the same areas as they do now. What has changed? Could it be that our public schools have become a PSEA dominated joke that teach our kids things that many parents do not agree with, deemphasize competition and are powerless to administer discipline? Isn't this the problem and inability to compete in sports just a symptom of the disease?

Psycho (like the name by the way) this is about putting things back to the way they were before.Classifications are there for a reason, one thats not being served right now but still a reason.Facts are facts and in sports privates have an advantage!Allstar vs. what you get is not a fair match. Now I don't know when you attended school but I have been out more than 25 years and coached 15 since then and I sure have noticed the catholics and other privates.Heck anyone who follows sports should.Unless of course you are a psycho!
