"Modified Scoring System" ??????????????

Post by frostlion »

So I happened to see that the outcome of todays Pitt spring game was 54-23, but then, I happened to read this.....

"The Blue (defense) held the Gold (offense) to just conventional 10 points, but a modified scoring system was used where both units earn points for long runs and passes, as well as first downs, changes of possession and turnovers."

http://pittsburgh.scout.com/2/855717.html

MODIFIED SCORING SYSTEM?????

This is the biggest joke I've ever heard of since Wanny took his team on the road to play at high school stadiums.

Just think.....maybe using this modified scoring system McCoy would have ran for 5,000 yards versus Oregon State.

SHAME!!!!!

Oh...and the "reported" attendance was 6,000.

Must have been a great exhibit at the Warhol Museum.

It must have been rather difficult for Pitt to find a venue SMALL enough to hold the event. Since we know there is no threat of a passing attack, is it possible for Pitt to just practice and scrimmage inside a rented fire hall?

I read that article frostlion referred to, and see where collegefootballnews has Pitt ranked pre-season #22, and that sportsillustrated.com has them at 25. Not bad for right now.

When one PSU player found out that there was only 6,000 at Pitt's spring game, he said, "I kinda envy them in a way. In our situation, that would mean less garbage to pick up after the game".

If that's true about Pitt being in the top 25, the pollsters have officially lost any and all credibility they had left. There is no way that team should be in the top 40 after all they lost, from a team that wasn't any good to begin with, with 2 new coordinators.

Well, they only lost 4 seniors AND McCoy. Good or not, all the starters left from last year have another year under the belt. Surely this will help the team. The defensive coordinator was there last year, so he isn't new. By the way, you don't like polls (either in basketball or football) that rank Pitt high, do you?

They shouldn't even be in the top 40 and they won't win 7 games.
