Re: Mt. Union Baseball
I believe the Lefty pitched yesterday in the Trojan's 7-2 victory over rival Huntingdon.. I also belive there was not 1 balk called on him the whole game ( i think around 5 pickoff moves to first) hm.. something to think about....
Re: Mt. Union Baseball
I was at the game. He made three pickoff attempts to 1b with one being an errant throw. Something to really think about no one yelled, "balk," no one complained, not the coaches, the players, nor any of the fans I was standing near. But I'm sure some board participants will offer their incisive thoughts on this non issue which otherwise was a typical hard fought game between two local rivals.

Obviously hombre i am not a man with your oratory skill or mastery of the tongue for your linguistics are superior to my own...but i also was at the Mt. Union/Huntingdon game and i must say i heard quite a few errant fans yelling balk at will. I was wondering if you could explain the piaa rules a little more simply regarding your lefty pitcher which is a fine pitcher indeed. To me such deception is not a balk but just an exemplary move however, it does seem to fit certain standards to which the balk rule applies. Im not here to be a firebrand of sorts ,but rather a person who would like to know the correct up-to-date rules and you seem to be the most informed person to ask.

From the view of the groundhog in hombre's pants, Mount Union seems to be the best team in all the land!!!! The other teams might as well stay home, cause when you come to MU, you leave with a loss. With junior Morrow's power, Senior Dixon's pitching, and Senior catcher Cole Walters speed you might as well not even try. Here we come PIAA championship!!!! I hope southern huntingdon doesnt ruin Long's dreams by pitching him against this stacked lineup. His era number will be higher than the number of his male on male relationships.
PS....We take pride in our superior balking abilities!!!! 8====D

Re: Mt. Union Baseball
All this talk about MU balks is ridiculous. The majority of fans and half the coaches don't even know the rules regarding a balk. I have been at games where opposing coaches argue the first move made by any lefthander (especially at MU) without any actual knowledge of the rule. It just looks too good. I've seen quite a few games involving MU teams in the last couple of years, and rarely does the kid actually balk. Guys whine, and uninformed fans gripe but that doesn't mean it's a balk. Sometimes quality coaches teach and work on skills that are just within the rules. That is simply playing the game "within" the rules. Nothing wrong with that. And, I've always felt that if you don't like the way something is being done against your team simply be better. Better teams that are better coached won't have to worry about balks.

I watch the lefty pitch yesterday and not one balk was called although he never had a runner get past 2nd base.
I guess when you pitch a game like he did against CK you do not have to worry about a balk
