Did the Lions really just shell out $42 million guaranteed to Matthew Stafford? That's more than Matt Ryan got the previous year. Ryan was a much better prospect than Stafford was, in my opinion. I guess they can always say at least they didn't draft another wide receiver, but I find this amount of guaranteed money for Stafford crazy.

I honestly don't think this kid is ready to play in the NFL. This contract reinforces 2 TAE opinions: all rookies should make a standard base pay and every raise should be incentive based. And, the entire city of Detroit and all her sports teams should turn over management duties to the Detroit Red Wings front office.
