I gotta respond now. PSU may be frontrunners, but I am not sure the Big 10 has a clear cut favorite. I don't see any objective reason to rate either PSU or OSU way ahead of the other. Both have great talent but huge questions.

As for the shot at the title the past four years: In 2006, PSU would not have been in the BCS game ahead of Texas or USC, and they shouldn't have been. PSU would have been dominated by either of those teams. PSU could not even muster 200 yards of offense AT HOME against OSU and barely beat OSU in front of an insane crowd. How would they have done on a neutral field against a team much better than OSU?

In 2009, PSU would have been blitzed by Florida. The OSU team that Florida killed in 2007 was much better than last year's PSU team. Those close losses to Michigan and Iowa were a blessing, although I think the Michigan loss was more of a blessing to people like me. If PSU had been undefeated that year, PSU fans would have gone on and on about how they were robbed and how Texas did not deserve the title. It would be 1995 all over again, when PSU was mercifully saved from a Nebraska beating and then spent ten years bragging about how they would have killed Nebraska.

The '94-'95 PSU team is rated by many as one of the top college football teams off all time. ESPN did a countdown a few years ago of the best college football teams of all time and they had the '94 Nittany Lions in the top 3 and the Nebraska team of that year was not even listed. That should tell you something.

Paul Jones won the QB award at the Nike Camp this weekend but was not even mentioned in the "Hot 11" or even mentioned. Phil Grosz's 1-line response to that? "You'd have to ask Mike Farrell."
