C Sponsky leaving BC.
C Sponsky leaving BC.
There is a good chance C Sponsky will leave and go to Altoona High to coach football and take attendance director position. If he does the BC program will be hurt badly and I can't see ever rebounding from it.

Is he aware that he will NOT be able to get kids from other school districts? He will only be able to coach the kids that actually live in Altoona? He might want to reconsider!!

I read there were TWO other very good candidates asked. It's not a done deal for Sponsky. At the last I heard.

Wow philip's dad sounds like a bitter fan of a team looking for excuses because they are usually on the losing end of a matchup with Sponsky and the Huskies. Say what you want about where the players come from because obviously that will be a neverending "issue" but you can't take anything away from the job he has done as a coach. Wins are all that matters as in all sports and that's what Sponsky does. 90+ wins in 10 years with a schedule that plays 9 games a year, coaching teams to many District championships as well as an appearance in the State finals, he knows how to win. He gets support from each of his players and their families and the fans. He would be a great fit in any program and most importantly lead the team to wins.

Re: C Sponsky leaving BC.
Don't you think there is a DIRECT correlation between "where the players come from" and "the job he has done as a coach"?
Re: C Sponsky leaving BC.
Also, can you verify the 90+ wins in 10 years? What years were they, especially since they have had several losing seasons in a row lately.
Re: C Sponsky leaving BC.
So you're saying the players can do it all on their own, don't need any leadership, and know what to do for each and every practice and every situation in a game? The team that can do that is one grown up and selfless squad of kids. Even the best of athletes needs a great coach to achieve championship status. As for what years his wins came, you could probably make the logical assumption that they've been in the previous 10 seasons. To clear up your question of consecutive losing seasons, the Huskies have had only 2 losing seasons (2006 & 2007) in Sponsky's time as Head Coach. Several trips to the State Playoffs, like the many years before those two seasons, will cancel out the losses from those years. Don't try to focus on what little negative you can try to grasp. From what I've seen in his career he is confident and will have success no matter whose sideline he is on next season.

BC posted a 5-5 record last season including playoffs. Good luck to Sponsky, Bishop Carroll and Altoona next season.
