PSU
Re: PSU
Most scholarships are year to year. This is done this way so that if an athlete does not perform up to what the coaches believe to be his best they are then modiftied to where the athlete performed. They can also be dropped and another athlete may recieve it. This is up to the coaches totally.
Re: PSU
so, you know someone that just recently was told that their scholarship was being changed or dropped? again, you're talking through your hat unless you know something....remember, the season ended in March...the coach was hired when? There really hasn't been that much time since all that happened....I'm sure the new coach would have to evaluate things the best he could before making any decisions (and since I'm not on the inside, I really don't know what's actually happening)....but then, I won't get on a public forum and start spouting off about situations which I know nothing about and people which I know nothing about.....
But then, that's me.....
But then, that's me.....
Re: PSU
This whole topic just went with the flow. It doesn't matter when the new coach took over. I'm saying that PSU wrestlers for next year are COUNTING on the scholarships they were promised. When this new kid shows up out of the blue, should PSU just give him some scholarship money from other wrestlers just because he is so good? What kind of coach takes scholarship money from other kids to give to ONE special kid on short notice?
Re: PSU
and I will say again, do you know that he took money from one to give to another? Or was there money not accounted for? Or is he getting most of his money from academic scholarships and endowments?
So again, you are just spouting off with no basis.....quit giving theories when you just really don't know....

Re: PSU
Academic money and endowments???? If that was the case, EVERY wrestling program would have 8 kids on full athletic rides, and a whole bunch of wrestlers "walking on" and getting academic money and endowments. Isn't that cheating?
Re: PSU
How many kids are on a college wrestling roster? Now if 8 kids use up ALL the scholarships, you're telling me that the rest of the kids on the roster will get academic aid, endowments, and state grants? This would satisfy everyone who is working their butt off in the wrestling room? And that colleges could attract UNLIMITED numbers of wrestlers because there is NO need for athletic money?
Re: PSU
wow, you don't read or listen much, do you?
First, do you base your discussion points on anything? Or are you just rambling to get people going? Or are you recently off your medicine and are having problems being coherent?
As I understand it, a wrestling team can have up to 9.9 scholarships available to it....now, this is money equal to 9.9 scholarships...it can be a pot of money....after incoming wrestlers are awarded financial aid (whatever that might be), then the scholarship money can be used for wrestlers....
Example...a kid comes from a family and is eligible for enough financial way to take care of his costs...scholarship money wouldn't be needed...another kid gets financial aid, but that doesn't cover his costs...he then receives scholarship money to make up the difference...it doesn't have to be designated at full or half or quarter...depends on the circumstances...
Each coach (again, if the school is willing to fund the full complement of scholarships) gives money to more than 9.9 wrestlers....it is spread out (for many reasons)....and many wrestlers that are on a team do not receive money, choosing to wrestle as a complement to their education....
Now, that's how I understand it, having actually been around college athletics and having worked in a college financial aid office....it may be different....but I'm drawing on my experiences...
What exactly are you talking about? You said some kids are losing money so Taylor can get some....who are those kids? And are you saying that a new coach isn't allowed to make those decisions? Why not? If a wrestlers is not happy with the financial situation, he has the same opportunity that everyone else has. He can transfer (within the rules)...he can not wrestle....no one owes him anything....
In these economic times, with many people losing jobs for one reason or another, you're telling me that it can't happen to wrestlers for one reason or another? Especially when it happens all the time...
Now, I've explained what I know and what I think I know....are you going to offer any facts about anyone or anything? Or are you going to continue to babble on about nothing, simply to allow me to practice my typing skills....
I'm almost ready to support private schools after having this discussion with you.

Re: PSU
It's really amazing how gullible many of you are. Some recent excerpts: "warped perspectives", "allegations and theories", "situations you know nothing about". I could go on. Some individuals are more intelligent than you could imagine, and the possibility does exist that many of you are falling for the bait. It does make for many interesting pages of reading, though, and it does spur thoughts which otherwise might not be printed here. Carry on.
