More bushleague Pitt recruiting

Pitt has had some recruiting success over the past week and Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph's athlete K'Waun Williams is one reason fans of the Panthers should be excited.
The 5-foot-9, 178-pound prospect from the Garden State is excited about his future at the Big East school. He believes he will bring plenty of versatility and a unique skill set when he arrives at Pitt more than a year from now.
Before talking about himself, though, Williams wanted to talk a bit more about Pitt, and why he chose the school.
"It's just the atmosphere," Williams explained. "The people around town and the community. The academics are great. Pittsburgh as a city is really good. The facilities are nice and I just feel like I'm home there."
***Let me go ahead and make a note here... 1) Atmosphere? 2) The people? Oh God. 3) Academics are great, huh? They must have been showing him stats from 10 years ago when Pitt was "Pittsburgh" and telling people they were "the Stanford of the East". How'd that turn out? 4) City is really good? Is this kid from Dunlo and never left the city limits before his Pitt visit? 5) Facilities, eh? Are they Pitt's facilities, or the Steelers?
How does he plan on contributing when he arrives on campus?
"I'm going in as a defensive back but they said I can play wide receiver if I want," Williams said. "It's up to me, they've said, so it's really optional. I prefer receiver.
***Find another school who is so hard up for recruits that they make statements like this. Once again, Pitt is the lowest common denominator for all these kids.
"I've got playmaking ability and I run good routes. I have good hands and I'm explosive."
Pitt has commitments from nine other prospects, including two other receivers in Kevin Weatherspoon and Salath Williams.
"I don't mind competition," Williams said. "I'm gonna be going out there working hard every day."
Williams didn't get many opportunities to showcase his abilities as a receiver last year. He certainly will this fall.
"We had a couple of seniors (at receiver) that played a lot," he said. "I was mostly rushing the ball. It was mostly sweeps out of the spread. I averaged 11 yards (per carry). This year I'm starting at receiver so I should get more receptions. It should be a big year.
"I'm just trying to improve every day. Every aspect of my game. Catching, running, getting stronger ... all of it."
While Williams said he is "pretty solid" to Pitt he also said he might want to take some visits to see what else is out there.
***Pretty solid. I wonder if him and Clemmings will stay "committed" if they take visits to real colleges. It was a valiant effort, Pittsburgh. But in the end, it will be like Hall and Oates: "I can't go for that, no can do."

How much atmosphere can be generated on gameday from 10,000 fans where at least 1/3 are from the opposing team?
"It's up to me" ???????????????????? Maybe they should just let him call the plays too. Surely he could muster up at least three points versus Oregon State.
