Then point is, if he wouldn't have WASTED a year playing offense as a true freshman to "play some", then he wouldn't have had 4 years left to play if he would have needed them for any number of reasons. When he wasted that first year, how did anyone know what the future was going to bring? He might have needed each and every year as a player. Who knew? Actually, if Sean Lee would have redshirted his first year, then he could have applied for a medical redshirt last year and would still be allowed to play. Jordan Shipley is in his 6th year at Texas via redshirt and medical redshirt.

Were you that pain in the **** kid growing up that would only play shortstop because you thought you were good at it? When in reality you should have been in right field. These are players getting full scholarships from the university to play a sport for them. If PSU wants to put King at punter then he should do it no questions asked. That year of King playing WR might have actually been really beneficial to him because he learned the position that he now covers playing CB.

Ask Ben Roethlisberger about his direct success his senior year in high school as a quarterback. He'll tell you that playing WR helped him learn what they see on the field, and then that translated into him being able to be a successful QB then and now.

But I guess according to you he should have sat and worked at warming the bench until he was able to play QB. Right? Makes sense in your f*cked up little mind.

In high school, you either play somewhere or sit. It's that simple. Sitting is a wasted year you can NEVER get back. In college, you can sit out a year and LEARN the position you will be playing in the future in practice and on film. Playing a different position all together, just for playing time, gets you nothing but a wasted year. Having 3 years at DB under his belt before the NFL draft, even if one was for minimal playing time, would have been better than 2 years (and one on offense). It cost him dearly, as seen by his mid-round selection.

And once again it was his decision to leave early and not gain that 3rd year on defense. He left school after three years. Had all the opportunity in the world to play a 3rd year on defense. He chose to leave. Could have stayed for his senior year. Not the coaching staff's fault he left early. He left school after 3 years. Could have played defense for 3 years after his freshman year. He chose to leave early.

Michael Robinson said himself that the best thing that ever helped his career is playing WR for his first few seasons. Its not like these players cant learn 2 positions at once. Im sure Justin King's freshman year he spent a boat load of time learning the CB position but also was able to help the team by playing some offense. I'm not sure even what your arguing anymore with this. Why the hell is it a big deal he played like 20 plays on offense as a freshman. Keep digging.

I'm not 100% sure but if I recall correctly he did spend some time as a nickleback on defense as a freshman too. Similar to what Drew Astorino did this past year.
