Yep, its true. The NB Athletic Director is taking it out on the kids at Ridge because of what happened to him over thirty years ago. He still can not sleep at night remebering what happened when he played.

Ask Batzel why he had his players run up the score on Bedford and score over 100 in the 80's. He left his starters in well into the 4th qtr until he could reach this "milestone". If memory serves me they beat Bedford by like 45 points.
People from Everett and Bedford told me after the fact, that his reasoning for running up the score was a hatred toward Royce Waltman / Bedford and claimed Royce ran the score up on NBC and some other locals in the late 70's and early 80's. So this was his revenge/payback.

Wow I feel really guilty that this has turned into personal attacks on the NBC head football coach. I just wanted to inject some friendly ribbing onto this site that has been somewhat boring recently. My apologies for opening "pandoras" box. Yea southy likes to get things started but i would not use the word innocent for NBC's coach. If you go back through the record books i bet you will find NBC has a record of running it up when given the chance. I know back in the 70's they put 70 pts. up on CR one game.

Yeah but NBC had one of the best winning percentages in the state in the 70's. Northern's second string prolly would have beat Ridge by 40.

Does the name Freddie Glasgow ring a bell? I remember when the Titans and the Panthers played a game at Mansion Park in the 70's which was won by NBC 7-6 if mind remembers correctly. I was ther, but was just a youngster.

NBC's Athletic Director complained last year when CR's girls soccer beat NBC 13-0. Isn't the football coach and the AD the same person? OOPS :shock:

Wow, the hatred for Jeff Batzel is ridiculous. Have any of you actually ever met the guy? I don't know how he was 20 years ago, but he's a heck of a man, teacher, and coach these days. He did not have to step up and take the NBC coaching job after they lost their coach unexpectedly. He did that out of respect for the NBC football program. Some people need to just be quiet.

My only point is do not complain about getting beat in one sport only to win 55-0 in a sport you coach.
