Blacklick 21 Berlin 14
Shade over Rockwood in a sloppy one.
bbsocceralumni (not sure if you went to the game, I made the trip to Nanty Glo today)- Sayler was totally stymied by BV in the first half could not have had more than 20 yards. BVs #50 nailed him on nearly every down. I would say he finished with about 140 yards but it had to be on nearly 30 carries. If it weren't two long runs in the fourth quarter he would have been held under a hundred, my observation. I believe the Mountaineers and Sayler have had there enjoyment for the year. Sayler will find the sailing tough down the stretch as Berlin could lose out and finish 4-5. Berlin lost the game today because of too many turnovers!!! Blacklick caused a lot of them by stripping the ball. I counted 6 fumbles (four lost) and two picks. Berlins defense also had a stellar performance, Worthington was held at bay and Julock did not see the field until the second half and only had a carry or two (not sure what that was about). I also noticed that BVs big tackle number #75 showed up right before halftime.

No I didn't make the game I had to work. I heard it was pretty pathetic though. When you are down 21-0, 5 minutes in the game its hard to get your morale back. Like my prediction said, I was worried they would start off slow and look what happened. They didn't derserve the game, 6 turnovers! Just because of 1 game doesn't mean their season is over with. As bad as they played and only losing by a touchdown, I wouldn't say they are doomed for the rest of the year.Prince Sidewinder wrote:Blacklick 21 Berlin 14

I read some interesting things in the Tribune-Democrat. Coach Paul stated that the better team did not win the game. Looking at some stats, he may be right. The better team doesn't always win obviously.
http://www.tribune-democrat.com/sports/ ... 33835.html
Berlin outrushed Blacklick 237-97 and usually when that happens you win, but rushing isn't the only part of the game. Berlin's defense must have played really well as well as Blacklick's coach made the following statement:-
From the Tribune:
"“You’ve got to give Berlin credit,” he added.
“For those three quarters they totally shut our offense down, and I didn’t think that could be possible.”

Julock does not play b/c he never practices. He should've stayed at BC at least when he did that he played. Good for BV for having rules and sticking to them. What a waste of a talent.

Re: Saturday scores....
Berlin definately beat themselves. Turnovers killed them. The defense was quick to the ball and held Blacklick's running game in check. The Vikings had some big plays early but Berlin did make some adjustments to stop the run.
I think Coach Paul's comment is fine. Why I said that Berlin's season is in jeopardy is because if I am not mistaken they have Portage, Township and Windber!! They might have a chance against Windber but they are not beating Township or Portage. Portage will be them by at least 40 and the QB afor CT will tear the Berlin secondary up between Zaman running all over the field.
If the rerason Julock did not play is because of missing practice then hats off to Coach Zamboni for having rules and sticking to them. REGARDLESS of who breaks them!

That is not a bad thing that they still have them 3 remaining. I would rather them play them than Ferndale, CV, etc. I don't understand how we have a chance against Windber and not Township? It is obvious Berlin can stop the run and I wouldn't bet that Zaman will run all over them. CT's passing game is good but Berlin can put Sayler at safety, he can keep up with anyone in the district. Season is still far over for the Mountaineers, that schedule at the end will only help em down the road.Prince Sidewinder wrote:Berlin definately beat themselves. Turnovers killed them. Re: Saturday scores....
#15 for Berlin is very weak in the secondary, BV on three pass attempts had players wide open but were off target. I am sure coach zambanini will exploit #15. Why windber? Defense, windber might struggle stopping Sayler. CT will contain him and portage will smother him. He will not get 100 yards unless he carries 40 times.

Remember CT was crushing Windber at the half and went into cruise mode.

Re: Saturday scores....
Prince, you can't compare what happened already in a game to a game that hasn't been played. What you are saying for example is, since berlin beat rockwood by 22 and north star beat rockwood by 33 then north star is better than berlin?Prince Sidewinder wrote:Remember CT was crushing Windber at the half and went into cruise mode.
