District 5 Class AA

Post by Red and Black »

Can anyone project or predict what the most likely playoff scenario is for the three teams in this group - Bedford, Chestnut Ridge, and North Star?

Will the top two both play for the championship regardless of their records? I believe it takes four wins for the third place team to make the playoffs and have a semifinal game, so I doubt that that will happen, though it is possible.

Does the top team get a bye, while the other two play? Maybe they should do a round robin.

But does anyone know the school district policies of North Star or Bedford? They both might be under 0.500 or even have less than four wins. Will they still enter the playoffs even if allowed by District 5?

Good question. I'd like to know too. I would guess 4 wins don't matter since there is only 3 teams.

There is a lot of misinformation out there. I believe some newspapers believe that teams must win 4 games to be in the playoffs and that is not true.

The policy is similar to that of single A. In Single-A 6 teams get in automatically, regardless of record, and #'s 7 and 8 can qualify with 4 or more wins.

In AA the Top TWO qualify automatically (regardless of # of wins) and a third team "may" qualify if they win 4 games.

It appears that this year, there will be just a championship game week 11 at a neutral site.
