Cincy beats WVU 24-21, now official:

Winner of Pitt/Cincy goes to BCS and wins BE Title, even if Pitt loses to ND and WVU.

Gotta admit, if Pitt loses the next 2 then beats Cincy, it would be bad for the BE...

BTW, Cincy's defense is weak. Dion Lewis may run for 300...

My guess is that Pitt has no answer for ND's passing game, Stull throws a few picks, and Notre Dame wins by 14+. However, Pitt fans will say the computers said that they should win this game, so they will take the W and add the 10th national championship trophy to the endzone in Heinz Field.

Kirk, Clausen may throw all over Pitt, but how will ND's sieve-of-a-defense stop Dion Lewis?

IF Pitt can pressure Clausen and shut down ND's run game to make them one dimensional, they will win. If not, the first team to 40 or the last team with the ball will win.

Just checked out Pantherlair to read thoughs on the big game tonight. Here's a post From UPITT'89 on Pantherlair who seems to have the same thought process(criminal records, attendance, etc) and posts on their as Titan does on here.

Yes.... technically, all Pitt has to do is win the Dec 5th game against Cincy and they go to a BCS bowl.

But....

If Pitt loses to ND and WVU and then beats Cincy, we'll be a 9-3 team going up against the ACC champ in the Orange... and we'll be ranked between 20th and 25th.

And because of our loss to ND in that scenario, ND goes to the Gator and 11-1 Cincinnati goes to the Muffler Bowl.

It is imperative for Pitt and for the Big East that the Big East champ is no worse than 11-1 and ranked in the top 10.

If Pitt beats ND, ND will implode in their final two games under a for-sure lame duck coach. And the BE will get a team in the Gator.

Don't kid yourself into thinking ND doesn't matter. It matters. Is is imperative for the BE that Pitt wins... and cut the bullshit about "I don't give a dang about what is good for the BE, I care about Pitt!" What is good for the BE *IS* what is good for Pitt.

The BE needs two top 10 teams playing on December 5th. That kind of credibility can't be bought.

If Pitt loses the next two, we'll technically be in the BCS hunt... but a 9-3/20th-ranked entry in the Orange Bowl is the LAST thing this league needs.

If Pitt only wins one of the next two, it is better for that one to be against ND... as horrible as it would be to lose to the hoopies, that's the preferable loss now if we're to have one.

We, with UConn's help next week, have to keep ND out of the Gator. But if ND wins tomorrow, they lock up the Gator - no matter what happens after that.

This is a statement game for Pitt tomorrow. To the national media and, more importantly, to recruits.

83% of the country... approximately 12 million viewers based on ABC's ratings so far this season... will be watching tomorrow night.
Do not underestimate the importance of Pitt playing well tomorrow. For future attendance, for future BE TV contracts, for future BE media coverage and respect, for future Pitt recruiting.

It's a big freaking game. Cincy beating WVU tonight didn't change that.

Here i thought attendance and being in the national spotlight didn't matter. Guess it does.

embarassing myself? how's that? I predicted Notre Dame to win and they very easily could have. I mean according to you Notre Dame was at most a 40-50 ranked team and overrated. Pitt barely hung on and got some homecookin from the refs on a lot of calls. You know who played Notre Dame similar to Pitt? Michigan State, Purdue, Michigan, Navy, and USC. 10 games into the season and you still haven't played a ranked team. You'll play 1 all year.

ND very easily could have won? Now THAT is funny...Pitt had a breakdown on punt coverage and were down to their 3rd string CB in gthe 4th qtr, or Pitt would've won the game 27-3, or 27-9...Pitt dominated at the LOS on both sides of the ball. Homecooking from the refs? Now I KNOW you're brainwashed by JOKEpa, because that's all he does (along with PSU's fanbase) is complain about the officials. Did you watch Pitt's 13-9 win over WVU? Now THAT is what I call home cooking...and PItt won despite that.

Congratulations...PSU has played 2 ranked teams (tOSU and Iowa), both lost to terrible teams (Purdue and NW), and BOTH walked into The Beav and crapped all over PSU. tOSU and Iowa are ranked by ATTRITION only...

Its easy to say that Penn State is awful and the Big Ten sucks but you have no way of backing up those opinions. Your a strange character.
