Just because it passed by the whopping margin of 220-215 in the House doesn't mean it's law yet. The big Kahuna has a mighty fight in the Senate, where there are enough common sense blue-dog Democrats that will not go along with him on this issue. It ain't over till it's over. We can only pray.

just one quick note on socialist views...do you like public education, the postal service, police and firefighters? Those are all "socialist" things our system already has and I don't think anyone will argue against them. I'm not an Obama fan, but a little socialism is NOT such a huge problem, considering we already have it in the first place!

Our Healthcare system is very inefficient and does not work for the most part. The reform that's trying to be passed is definitely a step in the right direction. I am not going to pretend that it is perfect, but something has to be better than what we have going now. As we had the potential bill explained to me by a speaker who works for the APTA (american physical therapist association) the system would not be completely changed. The government would just have another option to add a little competition against insurance companies and we all know that has to be a good thing. All they care about is profit, not patient care.

Repeating for the however many-eth time. There is not a single hospital in THIS country that is authorized to turn away ANYONE in need of urgent care or emergency care. PERIOD. Now- you want that semiprivate room, TV, slightly better care than those illegals and indigents that WILL BE getting the same ride for free that many of us now PAY for, and I mean because we have a decent healthcare plan because we have a decent J-O-B as long as the few decent MD's are still practicing because TORT REFORM is KILLING their profession.....or do you want to wait months on end just to be seen by a government-mandated MD before any treatment is issued, just like in Canada and in Europe. MEMORIZE this old song lyric: "Don't it always seem to go, that you DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'VE GOT TILL IT'S GONE."

You do realize they are ust giving the option to change dont you? If your against the reform you can just continue to pay for the private insurance. Debating this is really just a waste of time because it doesnt really change anything. If you wany to then go with the public option do it if you dont thn continue with private insurance.

You really don't get it do you? There will only be one option in ten years if this atrocity is made law. Without serious tort reform there will be no cost control. This will become a behemoth underfunded entitlement just like medicare and medicaid. It will drive deficits higher and higher. Don't believe what Barry and Nancy are saying. They are flat out lying. End of discussion.

Many of the worker's who now are getting health benefits from their employers, are going to see those employers opt out of private insurance for their employees, and give them the public option to save money. What's funny is, the workers think that the money saved by the employers will somehow end up with the workers in the form of wage increases or other benefits. Ain'ta gonna happen. Any money that the employers save WILL BE THEIRS. We'll see then what the workers think of their new health care benefits as compared to those in the past.

I must ask if you think medicade and medicaire should be abolished? If so how do you propose retired americans to pay for healthcare?

As for the wages yes the companies will save money that they probably will just pocket. But its sort of a flawed argument because otherwise it would just go to the insurance company. So even though no one can say for sure i'm pretty sure that you'll agree it is more likely to recieve the higher wages, or perhaps a seasonal bonus, from your employer with the extra profit rather than the insurance company giving you money back. Both are unlikely but to be honest the middle class will never win in a capitalist economy. This reform however at least might make the loss slightly less, you still lose but not as bad.(You go from Steelers playing half retarded 5 year olds severity loss to say something only as bad as the Steeers playing Westmont... oh wait reverse that)

Don't go that far. Fix medicare and medicaid first then serious tort reform and THEN see if there is still a need for Obamacare. I read somewhere yesterday that Medicaid paid out 47 Billion in FRAGULANT/FRIVOLOUS claims.
