Re: BA vs. BM Score updates??
That picture does not tell the whole story. You have to wait and see is if he juggles the ball after he hits the ground. The position of the referee is fine. The ball was snapped outside the 5 yard line and his position is on the goal line at the snap. He is not responsible for the end line, he is responsible for the goal line and the side line. His position is correct. With that being said, I don't know if it is a catch or not and no one else can tell either with just this picture as evidence. If you have the play on video and can see the ball after contact with the ground then you can make a judgement.
I know this reply won't change any minds, but a still photograph on the sideline is not enough to go on.

Does that also tell part of the story? There aren't many single A teams in the area with guys that are built and play like these guys. They have to get guys from within a boundary based on where they live. They can't get players from several different school districts.
That said, recruiting is a word that is overused by a lot of fans. A buddy of mine made the following statement last night at the game-
"If someday, my son is good enough to play where he could get recognized by a college and can play in a great program like that instead of at Ferndale or Conemaugh Valley then why wouldn't I want him to play for McCort?"
That is the truest statement of all. It isn't McCort's fault people see it as an opportunity. I, like many, feel it is their fault for choosing to play at the A level. A team like Williamsburg literally has ZERO chance of winning a district title. McCort and every other private should play at least AA or higher. At least then they'd have played a team like Forest Hills for the title that could play against them. Small schools just can't compete with these guys and that is a fact.

lets not forget their march baseball "pick up" last year (lenhart) as well as a starting lineman (bealonis) last year.D6Guru wrote:funny how a score update post comes to this...
When the private schools do well, there is usually controversey on kids that move into the program for "faith based" education. For example, BC football had a great run with Blacklick players. BG girls basketball had a good run with girls from Penn Cambria, Williamsburg, and Central. McCort football last season had key players transfer in from Johnstown, Westmont, and Windber. I believe people wouldn't complain if the private schools only used kids from their parochial schools/system. But once public school kids all of sudden start transferring in to private schools in 9th-12th grade, then people are going to question their motives. Where there is smoke, there is fire. If they want "faith based" education, then send your kid to a parochial school in elementary years. Why is 9 years of public school education OK, then all sudden when varsity sports begin in 9th grade, they want to transfer. How you do think the Windber junior high coaches feel when they have to train and coach a student athlete when he eventually is going to leave the program? I think people would feel much better if private schools admitted they have an advantage instead of denying it.

Re: BA vs. BM Score updates??
Bellwood could not have beaten Johnstown or Forest Hills.
They played as well as they could have getting a lot of third down conversions early on and still got beat by two scores. They are better than I thought, but they could not beat those two teams in AA or AAA.
