I think that thread before was absolutely ridiculous. That being said to only lose to the 8th ranked team in AAA by 8 the first game of the year is a good sign for the young trojans.

Let's clear something up here. The team Johnstown played finished 8th in the state tournament last year but was not preseason ranked 8th. All the preseason rankings go off of last years final standings. The team they played lost 4 starters from last year off a good team, and is just as young as Johnstown. Now they won a close game to a Meadville team who may only win 8 games this year. I haven’t had a chance to see them play yet but a good scale to judge them on is the up coming Altoona game. Altoona is rebuilding and probably going to finish last in their conference. If the Trojans struggle against them or even loses they will be in for a long season.

Ithink Johnstown will have a successful season in the LHAC. Advancing far in the playoffs will be a different story. However, considering their youth and the potential upside, I believe this year will be a tremendous learning experience. Something which should benefit them for the next couple of years.

LHACTitan,

Lets get something else straight. Not sure where you got your information but Erie East did not make the Round of 16 so they didn't finish 8th in the state tournament last year. They lost to Hampton in the first round. They won a play-in game to make it in the tourney.

Secondly pre-season rankings have NEVER been predetermined on how teams finished the following year. Johnstown made it to the finals and the following year with everyone back they started out ranked fifth or sixth.

So now that I have proved you wrong twice how can we take anything else you say seriously? Nice try though.

Preseason state rankings dont mean a thing and sometimes arent even close to who the top ten teams are in that classification. No offense to Central Cambria, but to start last year they were ranked in the top ten in AA. They had Jordan Miller back but not too much else. They ended up around .500 and yes they did make a run into the district finals and state playoffs but also had some bad loses during the regular season.

Westmont beat Ford City over the weekend. Pre-season rankings: Ford City-355 , Westmont-649

Rankings don't mean jack.
