I would much rather "admit" as a school that kids are leaving for football than academics!
They said recruiting as in sports recruiting, not academic recruiting! Academic recruiting isn't illegal by PIAA rules!

totally different question, but is this the best team Salem has ever had? Obviously they made it further than the 2001 team but are they "better" ?

Not to take anything away from this present McCort team, but I don't think they are better than the 2001 team OR the 2006 team. Ya, they made it farther than both of them but think what would have happened if those teams played in Single A as well. I'm sure Scotty Lewis and the boys would have something to say about that. Remember the 2001 team lost in the Western Final to a Washington Prexie team that had numerous division 1 athletes including West Virgina All American center Dan Mozes and Notre Dame standout wide receiver/special teams player/captain Travis Thomas. That can also be said for the 2006 team who played Wilmington with Chris Burns who is now a running back at Pitt and if I am not mistaken their offensive tackle is now at University of New Hampshire (Perennial 1-AA Powerhouse). Don't get me wrong this McCort team is one of the best we have ever seen, and that is saying something in itself. I just don't see them matching up very well with the McCort teams of '01 and '06.....Let the criticism begin.

ill criticize, you can go off of how talented a team is but it doesnt really matter how talented your team is, its how good you are at the most critical times of the season. If those teams were so good, how come they didnt find a way through adversity and make it to the state champion? I dont care who argues but i base my opinion off of who has taken that extra step to make it to where they want to be. Not off of pure talent and skill. a TEAM is a team. and players are players. This year they are a TEAM

Really some great matchups if you want to think about it that way...

Offense...
QB: Push 01/06
OLine: 06 The yards (almost 2 - 1,000 yard rushers) piled up behind those two stud OTs and C...
RB: 09 Seidel is the do-it-all. Break tackles, make guys miss, out run, balance, vision, and a threat to take it all the way every time.
WR/TE: 06 Barbin, Seidel, Cruz take it (imagine if they had Wadley! :( )
Production/Scheme: Push 06/09 - 2001 wasn't a slouch, but these two teams put up some huge #s!

Defense...
DLine: 01 - Strictly the stop vs Sharon
LB: Push 01/06 Oreskovich and Hockeyco vs Lewis and Caperelli
DB: 01 Hawk was an all-state pick, Arcurio was a smart safety
Shut down: 01 - the "lack" of offense didn't matter because this team would shut you down...

I'd love to see these teams play it out. Some of the hitting from the LBs and Line would make your jaws drop. See Scott Lewis running at Hockeyco, Rugg vs Jones, Hawk and Domonkos in the open field...

life is good...

In Western PA, you've got to be able to run the football and stop the run. The 2009 team does a better job running the football than any McCort team I've seen to date. I hope that when people look back and remember this team, they remember not only that Josh Seidel is the baddest dude they've seen in years, but also the fantastic work of the offense line-- the rare combination of agility, speed and power from Merriman at the fullback position--- and the ridiculous okie-doking ability of Dane Domonkos.

In regards to the argument at hand:

Because they were little girls who couldn't swing it I suppose.

wait what do you mean hawk? Andrew hawkins did not even play much for that team if i remember correctly

in terms of recievers/TEs i would still give mccort 01 the advantage, Ryan Regula and Schrey mainly and the delich brothers as blocking TEs
